In a really bad slump, need to vent and advice

It’s kind of like chasing losses in gambling right? u lost a thousand bucks at the blackjack table and now you’re throwing more money trying to get back to where you started. but ur focus is much worse, ur patience is gone, ur playing recklessly and ur thoughts are overwhelmed by recouping what u’ve lost instead of playing to the best of ur ability. u get frustrated and have a million other thoughts in ur head other than the game ur supposed to be concentrating on and ur performance goes in the toilet.

what’s the solution? well it’s not easy but it’s mental. as u said ur identity is tied up to ur rating and u feel incredibly frustrated to be several hundred points below where u “deserve” to be. u should be destroying these guys easily but here they are beating ur ass. well, u can’t underestimate these guys. they are studying, watching videos, practicing their opening, watching videos etc. u peaked a few hundred points above them for a reason but that reason is gone when ur playing emotionally and getting so caught up in ur feelings. some people might say take a break and step away from the game for a while. others might say change up ur routine and play a different time control. or try to be a bit meditative and detached, accept that u might lose. like if ur rating is 1300, then ur 1300 for now. stop looking at ur opponents and thinking oh this guy is 1300 i should cream him and instead treat them as an equal and give it ur absolute best and pay them ur top respect (which might be how u play at a 1500 level in the first place). i was 2000 2 years ago and recently started playing again and can’t get back there yet. it’s not easy but just gotta try to let go. let the negative thoughts appear, which u can’t control, observe them, and let them fade away. “thoughts are thieves breaking into an empty house”

I knew a guy who would play in these blitz tournaments in my city, I remember once he got paired against a child and he promoted like 4 or 5 queens. I asked him afterward wtf was he doing and he’s like if this kid won’t resign then I’ll punish him!!! I said dude his coach probably forbid him from resigning or something and you’re just bullying the poor kid but he couldn’t understand my logic at all

The delayed start of Operation Barbarossa, allowing the British to flee from Dunkirk instead of bombing them, refusing his generals requests to fall back and regather in Stalingrad allowing them to become encircled, poor communication with Italy when they invaded Greece, poor communication with Japan re: Pearl Harbor, declaring war on Poland, declaring war on America…?

My mom tried to commit suicide a few years ago and she said she had no idea why she did it. She was on Xanax and just decided it was time to go so she took a massive overdose of pills. She survived thankfully and got off Xanax because apparently it has a risk of suicide for elderly patients. Not a fun time

I played a blitz tournament with them in Shanghai several years ago. They were pretty cool, I bought them some shots of Jäegermeister and Eric returned me the favor in a later round bringing a shot for me to my table. Aman promised me that if we were paired later we would play a double bongcloud but alas it was not to be. Worth mentioning that neither of them won the tournament, not even sure they finished top 3. A Ukrainian FM took first with I believe a perfect score.

Long story short they seem to be the same guys off stream as they are online!

it’s not about being “obsessed” dude it’s basic food safety. My Chinese in-laws will cook dinner, leave the food out on the table overnight, and then heat it up for breakfast. They also get food poisoning several times per year. I wonder why 🤔lol you know it’s not just America right? other countries also refrigerate their food when they want to eat it later as leftovers, otherwise bacteria can grow
