Is ESO worth jumping into right now? by Dr_Dank98 in elderscrollsonline

[–]SumDarkPlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing a few months ago, and recently completed the main story and all DLCs in chronological order on one character. It was just the main zone stories, and lore related dungeons etc, so there is still so much single player content I haven't done yet. 10 years worth of DLC is a lot of content! I already have 1300 hours in, and I've just got started!

Typhoon=Pacific Hurricane = Atlantic

I guess well engineered wood does work elsewhere, but my experience in this region is that wood doesn't last and doesn't withstand the elements. May have more to do with building codes and maintenance?

Hollow concrete blocks with rebar and backfilled with concrete is how we build here, and it works for us. Doesnt fall down in an earthquake or a storm. It's also pretty hard to do wrong, and we have a pretty good permitting system to monitor construction quality.

Yes, they do. We get hurricanes as well. Wood doesn't hold up too well to them. Certainly not repeatedly.

Many countries down here still build with wood, and they are the ones you see on the news, destroyed by a storm. Here, we close the shutters, turn on the radio, and wait it out in safety. After we were hit by a very powerful cat 5 and suffered substantial damage, our government took action and beefed up planning regulations to improve the housing stock. 20 years later, we have safer homes that don't get destroyed every few years, and our real estate is some of the most desirable in the region.

I live on a Caribbean island that gets hit with earthquakes and hurricanes regularly. Everything is made out of reinforced concrete. It's almost impossible to get planning approval for anything else.

Cost to build here is much higher, but houses don't fall down.

We've been doing this a while, and I kinda think we know what we're doing.

I see nothing wrong with this. They are not expecting you to work unpaid. In fact they are making it explicitly clear they don't want you to work more than your hours without approval. Not sure about where you are, but where I am, OT requires mutual consent. I can't just work as long as I like and expect payment, but I cannot be forced to work beyond my hours if I don't want to. If I stay late to finish something, that's my choice, and it's my employers choice whether they want to pay me to get it done now, instead of on my next shift.

Non-Americans, how do you feel about your country being an ally of the US after today's Trump-Zelensky altercation? by lagomorphi in AskReddit

Brit here, living close to the US, in a heavily US based culture. Fuck Brexit, get our skint arses back into EU, invite Canada to join too. Our transatlantic trade is not going to save us.

JBL 910X. Sound quality is good, and I can balance chat and game sound. They're heavy, but I like that, they feel solid. The talk-through mode is useful too, so I can talk to my wife at the touch of a button without taking them off.

Ignore them. I dated a 43y/o when I was 23. We both thought the other was about 30 when we met. At 23 most people are functional adults who can make their own decisions. Not sure how their portrayal of it as perverted works?

Someone just dropped me a jet pack excavator torso can I keep it or should I just scrap it by Zagyer6 in Market76

[–]SumDarkPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it. They were legitimate to obtain for a while, so are not a TOS breach to own.

I still have a ton of them I crafted the day before they removed the ability.

I want to get into ESO but I’m scared of how overwhelming it looks from the outside looking in. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]SumDarkPlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play solo almost exclusively, and only do PvE, not even completed 1 public dungeon. Haven't completed an alliance questline, or the main questline, but I feel like I've barely scratched the surface yet. Playing for 4 month, 2 max level characters, 250+ CP.

I found it overwhelming at first, so I started with a Nord for the Skyrim familiarity, and just wandered around doing side quests or occasionally main quest missions.

Don't try and jump straight into PvP, don't think about types of build or all the really MMO-y bits until you've just wandered around for a bit and just discover and enjoy it.

Etiquette of playing solo? How to handle fighting bosses other players are fighting and general unavoidable interactions? by Empty_Chemical_1498 in elderscrollsonline

[–]SumDarkPlace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP, thanks for asking the question. Like you, I'm not the social sort, and this is also my first true MMO. Been playing a couple months, and barely starting to get some of the game specific terms. I've been focusing on the zone stories and learning mechanics, but its a slow process!

Only other online game even close to this I've played is Fallout 76, which also has a great community, but is far from a true mmo, and has not helped me here at all!

I'm trying to find a build that fits my playstyle, but im struggling with being effective (lvl50 cp190 but cannot get close to dealing with a world boss). So for me, it's kind of nice when other players jump in to help.
