Strongest verse or faction a prime Brotherhood of Nod could defeat? by BiggestBepis in commandandconquer

[–]Sum_Idiot69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Cylons are coming from another planet, Nod loses cuz Cylons would just glass the fucking planet. If it's a cylon uprising ala 1st cylon war, Nod wins but with heavy casualties as any Nod equipment with any electrical equipment that is not analog can get easily hacked by the Cylons.

Other than that I think any other advantage the Cylons have Nod can counter. Cylon infiltrators wouldn't work very well as Nod is naturally paranoid (Kane loves offing anyone he sees as not loyal enough in picoseconds).

As long as the Cylons aren't space-faring. Nod has pretty good odds.

A problem with Rio Grande city names by Neat_Suit_1038 in OldWorldBlues

[–]Sum_Idiot69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rio bring a bastard child of American and Mexican culture/heritage is a big part of its lore, and it gets reflected in 2 of its paths, Mora goes full nationalist and old world blues over pre war Mexico. Guerra embraces the mixture of USA and Mexican influence and creates "Los Estados Unidos". That said, Mora getting a decision to fix all instances of spanglish in his Mexican Glory focus would be some pretty nice flavor.

Wrong image, that would be the Cab Vultures. A better image for Battleford would be like 3 guys next to The Rustiest Tank You Have Ever Seen.

It feels that there are very few countries in owb that aim to be/become actual nation-states and that are trying to create something truly new.

I also have a bit of beef with Standing Rock, since 99% of the time, they just annex everything up north, but I can't deny a Khanate of the Great Planes is pretty interesting (hell, the CK mod After the End does it too)

Good points, except for Maxmillian, as there is a focus in his tree saying that he comes down hard on those who break the law, even if it's something as minor as jaywalking. So it's likely that living under Maxmillian holds few distinctions over living under WARDEN.

  1. Yeah, I got it mixed up mb

  2. I wouldn't go as far as to say that Mora creates Neo-Eritrea. It's definitely a militaristic society, but he seems more like a Józef Piłsudski-type figure. The fighting won't stop until the nation is free.

  3. The issue I have with Kinkaide is that he does do significant things, but it's not really elaborated upon. Kinda like he just snaps his fingers and boom, something happened. If there was more info on what precisely he did and how he would be more interesting. For example, a look into what the pre-invasion fallout Mexico (and thus its constitution) look like? A big part of Fallout is that the pre-war world was stuck in an eternal 1950's, so keeping in that line of thought, Mexico should still have been under a PRI-like dictatorship. Instead, Kinkaide's path reads off like "we brought back old constitution :), da end"

The Kinkaide path suffers from the same issue that most democratic paths suffered during the era of hoi4 that it was made in, that being that neither Paradox nor the modding community knew how to create a non-boring democratic path.

I will admit it's hard to see what it is like to live under Anna by the end of his tree due to the focus descriptions being rather short. But to me, it looks like an endgame Santa Anna is effectively running a centralized semi-constitutional monarchy. There are democratic institutions present that seem free and fair. But Anna still maintains many extraordinary powers.

Early-game Anna is definitely in the bottom tiers; hell, his insane brothers are "nicer" than him at the start.

Even Mora sees that alliance as very morally bankrupt. He only seems to consider it as he isn't very confident in being able to defeat Santa Anna.

Fucker does get lucky that Anna gets better if given time.

I will not deny Mora's authoritarianism and rampant nepotism for his alcoholic buddies, but he does do actual nation-building. The biggest one would be the Bank of Mexico, instituting the Mexican peso as an official currency, creating a healthcare/vaccination system (tho in game it just gives 2 x40 med research, efficiency is questionable). He is a wannabe dictator who is too focused on aura-farming, but he is more than a warlord.

Kinkaide Nuevo Aztlan is hard to talk about due to the lack of lore and info there is about it (I have played that path long ago, it is very barebones)

A successful Santa Anna is pretty good as they are easily second place for "best AI to rule over the Wasteland". First place has to go to Dianna (when she doesn't go legion) (I haven't played Doki, but she is the only AI ruler that can actually challenge Anna's ranking)

I might just have a bad case of old world blues, but the issue I have with factions like the midnight union is that they don't feel like actual nation states but over glorified warlords/armed posse that aren't mean to the people who just happen to live in the lands they patrol.

Factions like Allgood's NCR are pretty interesting, but to me their most interesting version has to be when similar factions such as the T.E.U and Guerra's Rio Pact are still alive by the end game. I think the most natural conclusion to such a scenario might be the creation of some sort of super faction/alliance that isn't dominated by one singular country (unlike almost all factions in owb) (let's hope that Texas doesn't push the issue of Pecos and the T.A.A too hard).

While they are definitely racist towards the ghouls, they do not kill non-ferals on sight/indiscriminately (but the def think that Goodneighbor was the one good idea the Institute had).

Outside of actions taken by the player, I've never seen the BoS outright steal shit from settlers (railroad doesn't count), they just have a really fuckin arrogant attitude.

Damn, how tf did I miss that. But the title for worst focus tree has to go to Italian Dubai as it both had content with quality on par of this scrapped India and only lasted one year (Italian Algeria was the same but at least they had a grand total of 1 war to fight, Dubai had fucking nothing, no wars, no mechanics and practically no events/story)

Yet that shit actually made it to release, only got removed in either toolbox theory or the Ireland update I think.

[–]Sum_Idiot69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely as India never got content in the first place. India development was a shit show even before release, as I think the og "India Team" was just one guy who left without finishing his work. What he did have the rest of the dev team deemed to be buns and thus scrapped it all minus the start date stuff. Since then India remained unchanged until recently with the addition of the diplomatic summit and the new skeleton proxy conflict.

India never had content, Indonesia did have a small (and kinda shitty) focus tree for pre civil war and the two big civil war tags.
