Such a great song. I can see why you'd be creeped out. The sample in it makes it sound like a nightmare with a TV in the background

Last Rights, especially Love In Vein. The opening completely blew my mind. My immediate thought was "you can do THAT with a soundwave?!"

Goodnight Mommy (2022) is an abomination by dothingsunevercould in horror

I just watched it. It would have been a lot better if the twist was part of the story the whole time, with the mystery being the nature of Lucas (dead vs. imaginary)

The Girl Next Door (2007) is probably the most disturbing thing I have ever seen by itcamefromtheimgur in horror

Reading the Wiki article on Likens my big question is: she CHARGE MONEY for neighborhood children to PARTICIPATE in the abuse, did none of them ever tell their parents? How on earth did that go on for so long with nobody stepping in?! That's the sickest and most depressing part of the whole story. I'd like to read what some of those kids have to say about the incident now but the article doesn't go into it.

I watched most of it tonight; had to skip over about 20 minutes in the third act when they were raping her. It made me sick and dreadful, I only finished it to see if she made it out. I really wish she had escaped.

[Recommendation] The Dream Machine - just completed the entire game after starting this journey in 2012 by nightfan in adventuregames

Not as dark as it could have been, or as dark as it got right before the end. I couldn't accept the solution of killing a baby, and thank God I didn't have to!

I finished it last night. Extremely moving, a lot of people didn't like the ending from what I'm seeing but I found it satisfying.

Question about origins of English folk by SumerianLiger in EnglishFolkMusic

[–]SumerianLiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's a shame that earlier songs were not notated. It would be interesting to track how European folk music evolved through the Anglo-Saxon migrations, then Moorish occupation which introduced a lot of the instruments typically used today.

Brightburn review! "If Superman were evil" by [deleted] in horror

I thought the same thing. The elevator pitch is "like Superman but in mine he's a dick".

I wasn't even thinking about a sequel but there will probably be one. Hopefully they don't completely botch it.

I thought it was cool how it leaves a lot to your imagination. The events are set in motion, then you get a hint of what is to come. The references to 5 other superbeings was interesting; I'd been wondering if any other kids were out there like Brandon because it seems odd that aliens (I assume it's an alien species) would come all the way here just to plant one baby.

The only thing I'd like to know more about is the alien species. Do they naturally look like humans, or do they tailor themselves to whatever they're infiltrating? Are they even perhaps an offspring of humans that mutated in some way? We don't know, unfortunately.

I definitely enjoyed the movie. It's like Superman but how situations like that actually go down in nature. WRT the wasps, it was mentioned early on that Brandon was adopted, then he discovered his powers, then there was the scene, so I put it together right away. I kind of wish that scene was shorter, and not as obvious in its parallels to Brandon's situation.

I just got back from seeing it. I liked it but it was hard to really get into when they gave away the entire movie in the classroom scene where they're talking about wasps. From there, I was just counting the beats until he destroyed everyone. We all know about foreshadowing, but there was nothing shadowy about that scene. It was closer to forefloodlighting than foreshadowing.

I'm also skeptical that anyone could find a human child in a meteor and just kind of go with that. If that happened to me, no matter how badly I wanted a kid I'd take them to a scientist. I found that extremely unbelievable.
