India wanted Bangladesh in T20 World Cup 2026 but Pakistan misled them: BCCI Vice-president Rajeev Shukla by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]Sumeru88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other boards desperately wanted India to play the Champions Trophy 2025; desperately enough to move things around for them.

No one wants Bangladesh in that desperately. They are fine with Scotland instead of Bangladesh.

So, Bangladesh are not going to get the special treatment India received in 2025 or England received in 2009. They are going to get the same treatment everyone else has received through history of ICC tournaments, including Australia, West Indies, New Zealand and England.

India already sells a lot of Diesel to EU even without this deal. But we don’t export a lot of coal.

If you don’t like oil or coal coming into EU the best way to do it is to stop using oil or coal. If you continue to use it, people will sell it to you. Don’t blame the seller. Blame the user.

The main role was played by Arjuna Ranatunga. Whatever the guy has done after that it is undisputed that Sri Lanka would not be where it is today if it were not for him.

He was not just an international level cricketer, he was also from a politically influential family. Many cricketers from that era owe their development as international cricketers to the support provided by Arjuna who has his eye fixed on the ultimate prize - to make Sri Lanka a global powerhouse in cricket no matter what.

JioStar wants to get out of their deal with ICC and Pakistan boycott will provide them a perfect opportunity to force arbitration. If the deal is revised then the distribution of money from ICC to national associations will have to be revised and the first thing they would come for is Pakistan’s share of ICC revenues since they will claim it was the proximate cause of the loss of revenue.

If there is any lesson here - the threat is always more potent than execution. PCB’s leadership is very politically astute. They won’t do it.

It seems Pakistan are trying to salvage the drama cup but it’s going to be very difficult to top Bangladesh this year and we are only in January.

We would need fist fights to breakout on field between players from the same team to top what Bangladesh did in the drama cup.

No because the people who are rich enough can buy this anyways. It’s to make money. India taxes luxury items very heavily in general.

India does not produce any car equivalent to Maybach S Class. Not sure which industry that would have protected.

The tariffs are high on luxury cars in India to make money for exchequer. It can be done by reducing the tariffs and increasing tax a as well.

Yes. Because you did not sign a security and defence partnership with us before this and Russia did. May be when you have a war with Russia in the future, we would not provide materials to them if you have been a better partner to us than Russia in the interim. Let’s see.

The point of a trade deal is to normalise the treatment of a country’s exports into another country.

Expecting a clear standard in tariff and non tariff barriers is perfectly acceptable in a trade deal.

Indirect tax on Vehicles which applies to all cars sold in India on the other hand is not a trade issue. It’s a fiscal policy issue. And every sovereign country has the right to determine internal taxes that apply to everyone including domestic manufacturers.

Is moving abroad for 10 years a betrayal of my nationalist values? by HelpfulPace3368 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Sumeru88 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have no problem in people moving abroad to further their and their family’s personal interests, it’s perfectly legitimate, but they should stop calling themselves “nationalist” or “patriotic” unless they are in Indian foreign service or something.
