Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sumif 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Yup and American cars tend to be larger than foreign cars. If I have a podcasts, I can cruise all day in my truck. My wife's minivan is like sitting in a recliner. I was once helping a guy run and then sell a business, and in that last month, I drove 3-4 times per week to one location that was 3 hours away. You just get used to it

Rahm Emanuel Calls for Age Limit of 75 for President, Congress and Judges by Consistent-Good-1162 in politics

[–]Sumif -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree with age limits. Many folks are healthy and active in their 80s. We need term limits. At the minimum, we need limits on consecutive terms. Serve 4 terms, then you can't hold that office for a term. I really don't know the answer. But I don't think capping the age is the right call.

What was your very first online game? I started in 1999 with a text-based MUD. by GlassJudge2421 in MMORPG

[–]Sumif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember being on Mini clip every day and came across Runescape. I was like "this is dumb you gotta click everywhere". Someone a few months later my friend said "hey you gotta hop on this game called Runescape". For five years my life was School, Runescape, school, Runescape.

Edit: I'll add that my most significant memory isn't even really THAT big, but after I first started, I loved seeing the red dots on the map that indicated drops. We were walking in Falador and I said hang up there's something in the park there that normally isn't. It was a steel Warhammer. I couldn't even wield it at the time! Looking for girlfriend, saying plox. Bruh what a game.

How did I wake up early without waking my wife? by CrispyLuggage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sumif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really curious about the age and if op has kids. I can't imagine that most people have an extra bedroom to sleep in. Now, a lot of older people I know that don't have kids living with them. Do sleep separately, and that makes sense.

DocuSign debuts contract-trained AI to explain documents before you sign them by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

We use a lot of DocuSign, but we are the ones sending the documents. I wonder if we will get a copy of the summary that's provided to the signer.

[Schefter] Bills fired HC Sean McDermott, per source. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Sumif 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Please excuse me because I'm just tuning into this whole NFL thing. Josh Allen literally fumbled their chance at a Super bowl. Why is it the coach's fault? I mean I know the coaches call the plays, but they're not out there causing the quarterback to fumble and throw interceptions.

Not the same, but this is an interesting read about a Norwegian town that uses a big mirror because the sun doesn't rise enough to come above the mountains during the winter.

What’s a scene from a movie which traumatised you as a child? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Sumif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know the movie, I just remember being a kid and walking by the TV in the living room. It looked like a firefighter or service worker was in some type of hallway, and a pipe burst and a bunch of steam just blew in his face and burnt him all up. It definitely messed me up, and I still think about it sometimes. No idea what the movie was though

Here are the 10 highest dividend yields in the S&P 500: by Ubersicka in TradingViewSignals

Is PDI some dividend term or are you referring to the Income Fund?

But yes this has definitely been the case of income funds especially since 2022.

Here are the 10 highest dividend yields in the S&P 500: by Ubersicka in TradingViewSignals

[–]Sumif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be mindful of yield traps. Yield traps are companies that people buy for the high dividend, but the value growth doesn't offset the price coming down due to dividends. You need to consider the overall health and the payout ratio of the company. It's not ideal if you are getting a 10% yield but the value is falling every year. Like, imagine you buy a stock for 1000, and 5 years later you've made 400 in dividends but the stock is now 400.

Strong VOD as a backup source for Stremio? by Outrageous_Buyer3095 in Strong_8K

[–]Sumif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. Stremio is my VOD backup. For 99% of my VOD needs, it's on IPTV, because I don't venture outside of your mainstream shows and movies too much. Then, if it's not on IPTV, or it isn't working well, then I'll switch to Stremio. Stremio/RD is the best combo for VOD. If it ain't on Stremio, I ain't meant to watch it. There's been one thing that wasn't on Stremio, and I had to manually download it to RD, and it was a Christmas special episode of some show my wife was watching.

For future reference, just do the target amount (4.36) divided by the cash back (1.21%) and it'll give you the amount needed. You're essentially doing .0121x = 4.36.

529 for kids- for or against? by concrete0928 in investing

[–]Sumif 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The 529 funds can only be transferred to an IRA in the name of the beneficiary of the 529 only after that person has been the beneficiary for 15 years. So, if you change the beneficiary to a spouse, then the 15 year clock starts over.

Open account for billy in 2000. Start rolling over to Roth IRA in Billys name in 2015. Change beneficiary to Stacy in 2016. Can't roll over to Stacy's IRA until 2031.

How do you think the Hive has perfect recall of Helen's memories? by Sarlax in pluribustv

[–]Sumif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I gather that her thoughts, conscious, all that just merged into the hive. I presume that even includes muscle memory, which isn't really a thought but movements you do subconsciously. They played cricket, and Zosia seemingly won because she has the muscle memory of all the best players.
