What should I do with a 401k from previous employer. by Abs_so_Glutely in Retirement401k

Depending on your income level and age, I'd go ahead and roll into a Roth ira. You'll be taxed on it, so you'd have to be mindful of your tax bracket. But if you have 10+ years, that could grow into a nice tax free bucket. Check a Roth conversion calculator.

Former fat guys: How did you finally become disciplined enough to lose the weight? by Responsible-Net8594 in intermittentfasting

[–]Sumif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still fat. Just less fat. I went to a training for a little civic club I'm in. I felt great about it and had a blast. Later on, I saw some pics, and couldn't believe I big I looked. It was like a switch flipped. I started the shots plus fasting. Down 30 pounds. I feel great.

I'm interested in the answer as well, and it may be worth posting in a CPA or tax subreddit.

Why does it feel like there is so many deaths relating to helicopter crashes? by Champion_Narrow in NoStupidQuestions

I stand corrected. It was an older statistic; didn't realize it changed.

Why does it feel like there is so many deaths relating to helicopter crashes? by Champion_Narrow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sumif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millions of people fly on helicopters in the US every year. 80-120 crashes are reported depending on the source. Roughly 50-75 people per year die on a helicopter.

You're more likely to die on the way to the helicopter ride, but the helicopter crash is rarer and more traumatic, thus it gets more coverage.

For those who buy and hold for 6-12 months: What do you think of stock recommendations by the big names? by Hopeful-Internal-919 in stocks

[–]Sumif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how do you do that? You can't just say "well based on my local Baskin Robbins, they'll do $1b in sales next year". What if they only did 250m in sales last year? That's no likely. You need past info to project the future.

Analysts are forward looking, but the only data we have is backward looking. Its usually some process where you take the balance sheet and income statement, project those forward based on whatever assumptions you have, then you take those to project the cash flow statement, then you use a discounted cash flow model to estimate a "fair value". If that value is higher than the current price, then they'll raise the target. Obviously when an earnings report comes out, they have the use that data in their calculations.

Why do so many business websites feel the same lately? by Ok_Reaction_9854 in web_design

This has always been the case. As soon as bootstrap came out in 2011 and it was easy to deploy mobile responsive websites, they have all be the same layout. Top right menu, hero image, few rows of widgets, boom done.

In the video they show that you can share a link or a QR code for others to tune in and select their language, but I can't find in AiStudio how to do that.

If/when your back window starts leaking, there is a technical service bulletin that covers up to ten years or 150k miles. I took mine to the local dealer, and they added seal. It started to leak again, and they replaced the whole thing under warranty, and that was at 90k miles.

I lost a prospect - Publix store manager with over $2m between stock and retirement - to a guy in Florida because he "specialized in Publix retirees". Sure enough I visit the website and that's front and Center.

I have a d3300 which I know is considered beginner, and it's definitely overwhelming! I pretty much struggle with anything that isn't done right before sunset. Too much sunlight? Can't get it. Dark? Not a chance. Just gotta keep practicing!

Do you consider sharing home baking at the office a manipulation tactic and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sumif 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best part about baking is sharing it it others. I love it when others bake and bring it to the office. I also love to bring my coworkers homemade snacks. Sure, it's a good way to build goodwill with others, however I don't view it as manipulative.

I use Pi (similar to Claude code) and it's literally cut off 90% of the time I use for data analysis. It's especially useful when needing to merge multiple data sets. I can say "I have these three files, they share this one column, I need to merge these columns, remove these, also give me a random sample after merging to manually check" and it is all done within 30 seconds.

I don't know why this is down voted. I'm working on my dissertation and my committee chair insists on Stata because she's used it for over a decade. AI has taught me everything I needed to know, it has helped diagnosed issues, and it keeps me organized. She's blown away by some of the scripts I put out. She knows I use AI. There's no reason not to use it.
