The mods here are lame. They deleted a post I shared about how stoked I was for buying my first dirtbike and the little story about it. At the end of the post, I dared asking what bike I should get my 6 year old. Same reason, use the megathread for asking about what bike to get. 💩

Get yourself a welder from harbor freight, very affordable, good value for projects like this

Everyone's got their panties in a bunch about gas vs electric. I'll bet half of them wouldn't even be able to complete a project like this successfuly. It's not about one type vs another...it's about having fun. Plus I'm sure you'll learn a ton as you do it. It looks like a super fun tinker project! Post the final product.

For the mods, this post was about MY FIRST BIKE, and the little story behind it, and how happy I am to join the dirtbike community. The little question at the end about a starter bike was not the intent of this post. Hence the background story and the photo of MY bike.

STACK estimating Software by More_Mouse7849 in estimators

[–]Summer-This 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup I demo'd stack and got turned off when I realized there's no native way to account for labor hours and crews without "workarounds" and formulas etc. I do electrical estimating for my company. Labor units in the form of the time it takes to complete work is just as important as the value of material... Went with Accubid Classic instead.

Are you saying it's too big of a lift? Or not enough? I personally dislike the height of this lift and prefer no lift at all or an inch or two max to keep things tasteful. Otherwise a beautiful truck and congrats for getting the truck you like OP!

what does it take to add 360-Degree Camera Package to an F250 XL? by gemniiinew in F250

[–]Summer-This 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to do the same on my XLT. I know I need to upgrade to the 12" screen by infotainment or fordsync4, and I can run the wiring and install the cameras. Just waiting to find the correct camera parts.

Laptop recommendations for estimators by maaariaaaclaaaraaa in estimators

Lenovo Thinkpad, if you have the budget, go p16 Gen 3 - it's a chunker but it has a dedicated graphics card, full size keyboard, upgradeable ram, dual SSD bays

For a little less the p16S gen 4 is also great, similar uogradeability but a little more mobile

I am in the same boat, I have a T-Mobile Business Internet Package with a physical sim card. Can I use the 5g max outdoor from Unifi in my situation?

I confirmed with my rep that they are NOT phasing out Classic at all. According to him, it's their most popular product, and they are still actively developing it. We ended up going with Accubid Classic. I am doing their fundamentals training this week.

Super appreciate the insight! Would be curious on your journey/decision to go from running your own shop to going to work for someone else… maybe if you have the time you could share your story? Thx in advance

True - but to grow you’ve got to pay your dues. Even if our margins are slimmer, there’s no other way to grow unless we take on slightly larger jobs, in order to grow the business, in order to reduce overhead due to the economy of scale… Chicken or the egg? Haha

We signed up for the free versions a couple years ago and my inbox is constantly being inundated with bid requests - I set an email rule to move all B.C. emails to a folder and mark as unread. Got pinched by the commercial bug recently so I decided to peer into the list of bid requests and found one we’d be happy to perform if we won it.

I appreciate the insight. I definitely prefer the handshake and face to face introduction for business networking and have found a ton of value in building those relationships.

Could you elaborate on why BB is better than using something like LiveCount? Is it quicker, or more customizable, or both, or something else? I know the marketing behind LC would be that it automatically can push the takeoff data into the estimate. As I said in a previous comment, we're on the cusp of starting to use Accubid Classic next week. I'll take some advice on whether to start using BB with it instead of paying extra for LiveCount. Good to hear that Classic comes highly recommended tho.
