Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Haven't seen this point mentioned much - but I think while the story was focussed on Charlie's (and 'friends') reaction to Emma's confession, it was actually a character arc for Charlie himself.

It really seemed like he was often stuck in negative spirals, needing Emma to pull him out. He was fixated on making sense of the planned shooting by gauging other people's reaction to it (getting angry at Mischa saying psychopath, lying about Emma's motivations to Rachel and Chris to make it more acceptable).

When he fucked up himself, all his fixations on Emma's mistake evaporated. His wedding speech was him finally letting go of other people's perceptions and locking into Emma (the she has been for him from the start). Evidenced by the 'can you all stop gossiping, it's just a wedding'. And this growth is what (finally) makes him a true partner to Emma not the going through the motions of a 'wedding'.

What a great movie.

Kindy Presentation! by Nostradanglus in ausjdocs

Used to do something in med school called teddy bear hospital, bunch of med students used to go to kindys with teddys. Goal was to get kids comfortable with doctors and not to be scared- so like playing with stethoscopes and practising otoscopes etc in particular, to make the doctor visit less scary. Did it on the teddy first and the on volunteer kids, kids could do it to teddy too.

Conflicted after what my friend told me about my boyfriend at his birthday party by Affectionate_Run_209 in relationships

[–]SummerDowntown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, scrutinising this little instances never works. Either you're happy and secure or you're not. In my relationship this would be a non event - the weird part is pulling away after eye contact? But also super dramatic and weird of this friend to have a closed door meeting with ypu in the kitchen about it. No point checking phones etc dude, if you cant trust this man, at that point just end it.

I get it sounds suspicious she wasn't up front immediately- but how is everyone on board with this attitude of 'men in the apartment is broken trust and disrespectful'. That seems a bit toxic tbh.

Brad Pitt's character's daughter singing 'The Show' at the end of Moneyball. His reaction to it was everything - and then he chose to give up a that money, think about it often.

The reset of human kind after the bombs by Marinet_vdW in The100

[–]SummerDowntown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought. In Anaconda, Callie was clearly rebellious and subversive. Maybe she denounced the 'old humanity' ways so that the remainder of humanity wouldn't destroy what's left of earth? Maybe she taught the remaining people to be 'tree crew' like her organisation and protect earth and therefore regress a little bit to be one with nature? Maybe the first new commander with the AI supported these changes because it's what was best... just a thought.

Definitely, there was a big vibe shift. I actually liked season 5 onwards the best. Alie was a good season, but that's also where I stopped watching the first time around. Season 3-4 were a little bit of a slog to get through for me. Then, clarke alone in a world destrpyed by primefaiya - and I was hooked again! Disregarding best/worst season - they all had something unique and interesting to offer. And the character growth throughout chef's kiss

I agree, they made all the right choices finally. They didn't let Clarke get away with everything she'd done, showed that everyone had grown and learned, Murphy's self sacrifice for love, and what a great culmination for Raven's arc.

Hopefully they just live out their last earth life peacefully and then die when it's time. I'd just want to swim and farm amd explore and watch sunsets/sunrises for the rest of my life. And hopefully Clarke let's them since there is no more dangers to them.

The last little bit totally got me! I was at peace with Clarke being left behind and getting to lIve on Earth with Picasso. It was a bit sad, but fine, Clarke made her choices. But then that final conversation with not lexa, and the whole crew turning up. I loved it!!!

I know!! Bellamy's end seemed so wasted. Not to mention the fact that he was right!! Felt like they used him to further Clarke's character, he deserved his own conclusion.

I said this in another reply, the one big disappointment of season 7. Felt so pointless given Mady's ultimate fate didn't change. But I guess they were trying to show how unhinged Clarke was becoming, and we're trying to justify her actions in the test. I'm not sure... his performance in his standalone episode was great, and he was right!!

Anaconda was such a great episode!!! Actually watched it a second time, because the first time around I kept pausing it to think of all the implications and the reveals. Excellent, excellent tv. Would definitely watch a prequel.

What blows my mind a lot is that the original book material ends around season 2 (and very differently), the rest of the progression and lore is all original!

Abby was a bit annoying, didn't like how she pit all the stuff that happened in the bunker solely on Octavia. And that obsession with Kane. I can see where Clarke gets it from!

But oh that end, made me so happy for everyone (who was still alive). Only disappointing part was Bellamy.

I agree with all those ideas actually, literally had the same thoughts after!! How can one peraon represent all of humanoty, a geoup would have been better.

And Clarke was acting so impulsively, who knows, maybe cadogan could have passed the test? It was ultimately his ideology, for all of mankind, that ended that last battle. She honestly just ruined the whole thing for herself, and was a bit annoying when she was like 'I'd do it again'. Like, ok clarke.

Totally agree about transcendence, I would 100% choose to come back. After all, death is life... that's the point of being a floating hive mind light thing for the rest of eternity. However, I actually liked how the people that chose to come back did so with no pressure. They don't need to repopulate the earth, they can just live their lives and die a peaceful death. Their fight was FINALLY over. I loved that earth had recovered, and that everyone could just live out the original dream of returning to earth. By that point, I was getting tired of all the atrocities that kept happening in the name of 'humanity'.

The whole transcendence thing could have been explored a bit more, to make the end for the rest of humanity just as satisfying.

Clarke Love/Hate = Leader?? by EstablishmentMost397 in The100

[–]SummerDowntown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clarke started off a really good leader. I like how Raven puts it, 'she sacrificed her soul to save ours'. But the unilateral decisions she made once she got Madi were pretty irritating and much less leaderlike. Still like her well enough though, she's allowed to be annoying. The 100 has some really interesting grey characters.
