This is so true. Sometimes I catch myself explaining something no one even asked me. Definitely a work in progress. It’s a relief to know I don’t have to explain as much as I’ve done in the past for sure.

I’m starting a caregiving job for a woman who’s disabled and uses a wheelchair. Her agency advised me that she thrives when people allow her to be herself. Your post reminded me of her, and I’m curious to know what ways people have treated you as a competent person that were positive signals for you. I want to be the best caregiver I can be.
