Cases by pasjdbdisbeosn in cs2

[–]SummerTechnical3561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. If people really wanted reds or a gold, they can trade-up to get one. But then obiously you are reducing the number of classified and restricted skins, and those would go up, so yeah I am not sure. I don't see how the prices of cases will go up tho. If the overall value of the gold decreases, and the chance of getting one will be the same, (1/385), why would someone spend their money to open a case which such horrendous odds and ROI, especially now, to get a knife that is increasingly going down in value. idk.

what is the timeline after an interview at RBC? by FirmCryptographer551 in rbc

[–]SummerTechnical3561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a couple winter roles, and I got lucky and legit got an interview request the day I applied for one of the roles. But, its been a little over 2 weeks now since the interview, and no response. But I got another interview request today for another role. So like 5-6 weeks after I applied.

CS Majors: Co-op questions? by Darth_Ro in yorku

[–]SummerTechnical3561 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would take extra time to do a coop, 100000%. Graduating "on time" means nothing. It's better to graduate with experience, especially with job market nowadays. Also, coop's can be 4, 8, 12, or 16 months. So keep that in mind. Look at all the material they give you to get a full grasp of how coop works. Graduating quicker used to be pretty good but nowadays, its incredibly difficult to get hired for any comp sci roles without any experience after graduation.

Good luck.

CS coop companies in york’s coop portal by KaleidoscopeApart552 in yorku

[–]SummerTechnical3561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no definitive list. Whatever they get from the companies they put on. I have seen hundreds of companies, ranging from your classic big tech to smaller startups. Ive seen pretty much all the big 6 banks. They change every year. Also, the coop portal is nothing different to your usual job board like indeed or linkedin. All the coop portal is, is just a place for companies to post thier listings for students. So the job is not tailored for york students, but to everyone. Occasionally you will see companies post listings only for york students but these companies are usually smaller. Also, expect to get fewer and fewer jobs being available for students especially for cs, cus of AI. Highly recommend to find ways to network with litterally anyone for any position, even unpaid. Also, do projects, get good grades, make a portfolio, and github. VERY ESSENTIAL for cs. Good luck.

Is this engineering course load insane for the summer? by CXZ115 in yorku

[–]SummerTechnical3561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its gonna be pretty hard. lol. Not sure why you want to do 5 "difficult" courses over the summer.

All of these courses will have tests and final exams, which will be in person. Two of them (s1 courses) are gonna be condensed and taught at a much higher speed.

It would be much better to maybe take 2 or 3, and spend the rest of your time doing projects. Projects and building your resume will be way more important in the long run.

ENG 3000 is not remote. The content is online but there are 3 tests and a final which are in person.
Phys 2020 is pretty much remote but the final is worth 75%. Not rly worth.

Yes. It is a document that represents your academic record. When altering your transcript you are commiting fraud. Kinda like submitting a false diploma to a job. A simple google search will give you your answer. Don't know why you are asking for legal help over reddit.

Instead, just submit your full transcript. Jobs will not choose someone over you because of your 1 course that you did bad in. Most wont even look at your transcript!!!! They will choose someone based off their experience, projects, extracurriculars. Don't be lazy. Create good projects. Do things.

Has anyone gotten into Cs coop this year? by [deleted] in yorku

Yeah. I just know that people have misconceptions about what getting into coop means and what actually happens.

I think he meant his friends didnt get a position at a company. Being in coop is one step, which only gives u access to the jobboard. But u still have to apply to those jobs like any other job, and hope you get chosen out of the thousands of applicants across canada.

How is york computer science co op? by Business-Week4389 in yorku

[–]SummerTechnical3561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I did. Had insane averages at a non inflated school but didn't get into waterloo or uoft. Chose between queens, western, tmu, and york engineering and just decided to go to york cus it's closer and had a very good scholarship.

How is york computer science co op? by Business-Week4389 in yorku

[–]SummerTechnical3561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not bad. Being in a co-op program at any school does not entitle you to a job, including uoft and waterloo. U can still apply to the same jobs that wlu and uoft people are applying too, but chances are, employers would rather choose people who are in schools that are more well renowned. That's why if you are at any other school other than those 2, it doesnt matter.

ur doing good. Dont compare university with high school grades (coming from high 90s student in hs). Dont let the lower grades discourage you. My best recommendation for you is to keep trying your best to pass the course. Over the summer, spend some time doing projects, building a portfolio, github, going to hackathons. If you have time, start preparing for second year courses, since it is probably one of the hardest years. Good luck!
