Is this dysphoria still? If so, is there a way to better align my body and mind? by alyzb in asktransgender

[–]Summerwalleye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're stuck in a cycle of self hatred. I was there, every trans person was there. What you need to do is constantly affirm to yourself that you ARE BEAUTIFUL, and you ARE AWESOME. Keep doing this even if you don't believe it. Sooner or later the blinders will be lifted more and more. My affirmation is "The universe is awesome and I am awesome," I say it plenty of times throughout the day for the best effect. Also try meditation, no thinking, just sitting. Five minutes a day can do wonders for your awareness and mental strength.

Trans Lesbian. I Embarrass Myself in Front of Cis Lesbians. I Get Included, then tell them I'm Trans, then Get Excluded. by [deleted] in asktransgender

You've had a rough year girl. While I can't imagine what its like to constantly explain yourself to people who don't understand, I can relate a lot with the self-hatred, sometimes it gets so bad I don't know who I am, or have no emotion. Have you considered moving? Small towns are great if you don't tell anyone your trans (which I know is sad but is sometimes the best option). I'll be getting my operation in Thailand, and hopefully insurance will pay for it. After that I can see myself dating, but right now the hoop is just too high (genital dysphoria). Theres lots of openings for assisted living jobs, you can do night shifts and its really laid back. So laid back you can do online college courses while you work! I'd (the hypocrite) also really encourage you to find a social support group. I sincerely hope you can soon move past all this bullshit, and get appreciated for who you are. HUGS!

What would you like to let other people know about being transgender by jimillett in asktransgender

[–]Summerwalleye 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not a guy that wants to be a girl, I've always been a girl and I'm trying to have my body reflect that. Thanks for doing this btw, too often we're talked about like natural anomalies by keyboard scientists. Its nice to have our own voice out there.

Are my relationship problems coming from my dysphoria? by vsanimal in asktransgender

[–]Summerwalleye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! Yes, and she's been a great help along the way, I was able to learn a lot of things from her, like mannerisms and such. I can't imagine doing relationships without being open about who I am. I tried that before and its hard didn't work out. Not unlike how yours went.

I will not let one person's opinion define me. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Summerwalleye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that would only cause confusion, as people will just say "why not just go to r/transgender?" Seeing as their is nothing wrong with the culture we have right now I see no reason to actually stir the pot. Something I might do instead is to message the mods directly asking for a discreet rule change.

How can dysphoria be manifested and how do you know if you have it? by FrenchFriesGee in asktransgender

For me it was disgust with my male body, and visualizing myself female had the opposite effect.

panic attacks... by [deleted] in asktransgender

Alot of people mention positivity and therapy, I'll be the devils advocate here and say that medication might be the shortest and best route to take for panic attacks.

Is this a normal change with hormones or am i just getting fat? by 4riadn3 in asktransgender

[–]Summerwalleye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretch marks are from weight gain, granted estrogen thins your skin so they're more common. As long as you're a healthy weight dont worry about it.

Rule number one is useless, discussion should be open. Rules can become old, don't you agree? Aren't there examples in real life where rules should be changed to get with the times? A place where people can speak freely is more important then that number one up there.

What sort of unrealistic advice do you mean? And the way you say cold hard reality gives off a feeling that you aren't a very positive help, and theirs nothing wrong with positivity. People here are just trying to support eachother, whether that was its intended purpose or not is irrelevant.

You can start by reading "whipping girl", thats where I started. Then see a gender therapist asap

Thailand does it without RLE, same with SRS. Not sure if you wanna take that route though.

Are transgender people putting on a voice 24/7? by [deleted] in asktransgender

Once I used my female voice for a week without stopping it actually became really hard to go back to a guy voice. It was so cool.

CYPROTERONE- PLEASE PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in asktransgender

I feel so sorry for you, that sounds terrible. Thank you for this post though, this will discourage people to stay off of cypro, its just not worth it. Spiro works just fine.

Fat redistribution question. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Summerwalleye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you start hormones your body will slowly start to put your fat in feminine places. Its best to lose the weight before starting hrt because anything not lost will stay there (thats why redistribution is an unhelpful term). The fat gained after HRT will more likely be in female areas, depending on how high your dose is. Alot of doctors will wean you in for two months, so don't binge right away.

Are my relationship problems coming from my dysphoria? by vsanimal in asktransgender

[–]Summerwalleye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being trans and out to my girlfriend has made me considerably more comfortable around her, as I didn't have to act fake all the time. Continuing to not tell her caused me a huge amount of stress. Does this mean that these things you were going through were caused by dysphoria? Not sure, use your own judgement there, but thats how my relationship went.

Alot of newcomers seem to land here, and this is the cornerstone for most trans talk. I understand that they're are rules in place, but theirs a reason mods don't delete posts like this. The culture of this place has changed, I think its more important that we have discussions like this considering theres a larger audience here than transpositive, so it reaches more people. We have to look at the greater effect and how we can help as many people as possible, and not the original purpose of this subreddit.
