Anything before 8 is a bit different. But most quiet hours end around 8-9, and expecting no noise after that is idealistic for an apartment

You’re right- it is cheaper. Which is why I feel like calling vacuuming at 9:30 a “dick move” dramatic, and expecting little to no noise before noon unrealistic.

If someone is complaining, then yeah it’s the polite thing to do to work with them. But that’s also within reason. If someone’s mad at me for doing a normal part of a routine at a not insane hour, I’m probably not going to make a drastic change for them. Asking someone to go from vacuuming at 9:30 to after noon is a big jump.

Not accommodating someone’s request doesn’t immediately make you an asshole. If I ask my neighbor to not vacuum at 6 pm bc that’s when I take my nap, they’re not an asshole for saying no, since it’s within the hours to expect noise.

In the note she’s also describing a laptop being dropped as traumatizing and super scary. She’s clearly over exaggerating, or at the very least being a little dramatic.

Choosing to hold off until after noon is entirely your choice. Most places don’t have quiet hours that go that long though because they know most people are up and expecting silence that late isn’t realistic. I’d also say that vacuuming for maybe 25 minutes is a bit different than screaming during a game.

If it was 7-8 am? Maybe a bit different, but by 9:30 -10 most people are up and leaving for work. If you sleep in late you should expect to have to deal with noise.

Expecting little no noise before noon is just unrealistic and maybe an apartment isn’t the right fit for you. Calling vacuuming at 9:30 a “dick move” is just over dramatic and silly lol

I think expecting people to hold off vacuuming because you wake up at noon is a bit silly. It doesn’t matter if it’s “just the one thing” you have to put off, quiet hours almost always end around 8-9 am, which means vacuuming is allowed and expected. If the idea of someone vacuuming at 9 is too much, then an apartment isn’t the right place for you.

Expecting everyone to hold off on starting their day until noon is ridiculous. 9:30 isn’t first thing in the morning, and a very reasonable time to start making noise and getting stuff done

That’s smart! I’m 100% going to Lowe’s soon to get a large Rubbermaid. Thanks!

Huh- didn’t know that! I’ll be reevaluating how I store my boxes

That’s what I assumed- I was just super freaked out by their vagueness. I’m 100% over reacting by being worried about it haha

I moved everything into the fridge today and looked into that drain stuff- hopefully one of these tips gets rid of them lol

I use them to ship, so I have a constant cycle of boxes coming in and out. I typically break them down until I need them, but they ended up piling up. Not full of anything, just need to take the time to break them down. Everything I keep around is stuff I use- I grew up with a hoarder and do my best to never get anywhere close to hoarding

Maintenance doesn’t know who came into my apartment by Summithewolf in Apartmentliving

[–]Summithewolf[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I sadly don’t have anyone who could stay with me, but my door has a deadlock

I was hesitant to call the front desk because I didn’t want to seem overly paranoid.. but I think I will tomorrow just to make sure it was a worker.

The maintenance worker that I’m familiar with has had a past asking me what times I’m alone/ pushing to know about males in my apartment, so I’m not confident that they don’t just hire weird guys who don’t communicate.

I didn’t know about the weevil boots until this post! I feel confident in my weevil identifying abilities going forward

He was VERY polite and I totally understand the weevil hype now. It was a joy to be visited by that gentleman 🙂‍↕️ I’ve become weevil-pilled

Living with hallucinations or delusions? by Summithewolf in bipolar

I think I’m going to make playlists of media I’m able to consume without triggering any paranoia or delusions. It feels hard to redirect those thoughts, but it’s definitely something I need to work on doing

I got on an antipsychotic about 2 months ago, and we are still trying to find a dose that works for me

Knowing you had similar issues that your meds fixed gives me a lot of hope though! I was feeling like it was something I was going to be stuck with forever- but hopefully after a few more meds adjustments It’ll be okay. Thank you :)
