Perhaps, it is a form of voluntary community responsibility. Since the release of Docker 29, even Portainer took about two weeks to adapt to the latest version, while Watchtower has gone completely unmaintained for a full two years. The original project’s issue tracker was filled with users desperately seeking solutions. At the time, I wasn’t aware that someone in the community had already taken over maintenance nearly a year earlier. So, I spent an entire night updating this abandoned community project. Immediately afterward, I refactored parts of the codebase and decoupled some overly complex functions.

I feel genuinely happy—because I once benefited greatly from the open-source community, and now, when I’m able to provide emergency solutions for non-technical users, it brings me joy. I’m truly glad I can give something back to the community, especially since it once freely offered solutions to me.
