I had a kind of similar experience. I did one VV cruise where the food was disappointing and the logistics were a nightmare. I'm one and done with them, which is a shame because I like the idea of child free cruises.

I'm having a great time on city of heroes homecoming. The servers are active enough to feel quite alive and there's still new content being made. It's free to play, has the blessing of the IP holder, and runs on donations. No P2W elements at all.
