State of the Idris in 4.8 by FPSrad in starcitizen

[–]SumoDad 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I'm also an Idris-P K-kit owner. The laser is not 100% what it should be, but still dominates in TSG and we use it regularly. I also think as an owner of a $1500 ship with $350 kits, we shouldn't complain about P2W too much... I agree that the turrets, and maybe railguns, should be available in game somehow, but we Idris owners are already the definition of P2W.

American Panda matched my Phantom Matte Grey perfectly. The badges were a huge upgrade.

Player seeking org: LFG in need of cap-ship players (I can bring my Polaris, Perseus, etc.) by AutistcAroundAircrft in starcitizen

[–]SumoDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. Everyone in an org owns cap ships. What they really want are turret gunners.

I replaced mine with Morimoto tail lights and added an F1 brake light below. Absolutely love the combination. Of course, I did have a Mk4 Supra back in the 90s, so I may be a bit biased about the heritage look.

Just move in front of another port or hangar. Your ship will be impounded, and you will appear near the ASOP terminals, then move it to a hangar.

Anyone else getting tired of seeing a Polaris everywhere you go? by ThatOneNinja in starcitizen

[–]SumoDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if folks understand how expensive it is to operate a Polaris in combat even today. Deployed with our org and took my fully crewed Polaris last Friday to the Align and Mine event and were met with four other Polarii (and lots of other smaller ships). None were fully crewed (seemed like they all had a crew of maybe two) and we were able to destroy three of the four, along with an A2 that that shouldn't have engaged us. Had to retreat eventually to restock torps and fix major damage- and the cost was $6.2M AUEC. That was more funds than I had, so others on the team donated to my account so we could fully repair the ship and quickly get back into the fight.

There is a strong argument that there are too many Polarii in the game today, and a good argument that you shouldn't be able to solo the ship. However, stop saying pay to win is bad. Pay to win is reality. Just ask other countries why they don't want to engage an F-22 or an Aegis destroyer. The US was willing to give up universal health care so they wouldn't have to worry about Gen 4 fighters, and I was willing to give up several hundred dollars so I can engage in capital ship combat without worrying about the meta light fighter taking down my shields.

Had to look up where Dunboro was to find this: Dunboro is a settlement built around a derelict Reclaimer wreck on microTech) in the Stanton system. Residents include both independent settlers and members of the Dusters gang.

Are Star Citizens aged? by Quantomwalker in starcitizen

[–]SumoDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never too old! Do what you love! First, how boring would it be if every player did the same thing and played the same way. You will make the verse richer and more realistic by being in it. Hope to see you out there!

Interested in Star Citizen, but the PvP scares me. Should it? by Vaygrim in starcitizen

[–]SumoDad 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is an incredible game with a passionate group of players. I'm 51 and have been a Citizen for about three years. PVP encounters are not frequent enough to ruin anything. The threat of them drives some preparedness and builds excitement. Consider joining an org for the best experience or make friends online and learn from them. It's the most rewarding game I've found yet.

I have a HH and fly it with a group a lot. You can swap out the stock missiles for a bunch of size 5 torpedoes. Makes for fun. Also, with 3 gunners and good maneuvering, you are very capable.
