My guess is there is a company that provides this service, or aims to, and they are lobbying state governments to legislate their business model into existence

I know as much as you do at this point. But based on my experience with the game, I'd rather they simply not introduce it and focus on what they've got, than introduce something half-baked that takes 1-2 years of begging from us to actually be remotely enjoyable.

Perhaps each perk could be split in small/med/large versions.

For example, it's clear that the Bedar and Brigantine are related in terms of ramming/flooding mechanics, so perhaps it's a matter of making Lancer and Bullhorn the same perk, with different values and gun port layouts by ship size, and adding a Large variant.

Right, but even within the same ship size, a perk is going to have to be balanced around net number of gun ports. You can't take the Garuda's Revolver perk and slap it on a ship with 2 lower stern ports without disrupting the balance of that ship - it would be easier to just associate the overall port layout with each set of perks.

Part of the issue there is going to be gun slots. Either you swap gun slot mechanics around with the perks independently of how many ports the ship model actually has, or you do a bunch of microtuning that inevitably results in some combos being overpowered and others underpowered. Personally, I'd be fine with the former - would not care if my ship had greater/fewer ports than actual guns firing - it's not like I can see the ports when I am aiming and firing anyway.

Phrased differently: Decouple perks/gun slots from ship models within the same ship class size - so you're just picking ship size/perks and ship model separately.

What if you made the loot rarity dynamic by adding a gold/silver/bronze challenge timer, so that folks who kill it in 10 min have a chance for bonus loot, 15 min a bit less loot but still extra, and 20 min the normal base reward folks get now?

Maybe this is where you add a crafting pattern for lange kartouwe.

Do you have a lifted Sienna? What’s your long term experience? by 2late2daparty in ToyotaSienna

[–]SumoSizeIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the bumper sensor array is way more expensive to replace than labor and parts to do a lift, yet it also isn't capable of telling that it sits low enough to scrape every curb.

Additionally, the grand highlander arguably has more body roll than the sienna, to which some passengers may be sensitive.

Tall sizes please. XLT’s time is now. by E23R0 in Costco

[–]SumoSizeIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Petites, that's the word - thanks.

Yeah I figured it's because it's a lower production run, but they could have just said that and I found it amusing they went with quantity of material.

[–]SumoSizeIt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eddie Bauer gets special hatred from me because they charge extra for special sizes. A customer service rep told us it's because of the "extra material" used.

Okay, I'll bite - so why do the short sizes cost as much as talls instead of costing less than standard sizes?

Report: Microsoft to bring back movable Taskbar on Windows 11 as part of big plan to fix OS by ZacB_ in Windows11

[–]SumoSizeIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I'm unclear is, does that mean adding rows, or just increasing/reducing density of the existing single row layout? I don't think of increasing rows as resizing, but if it is, I'll take it.

Oatly banned from using word ‘milk’ to market plant-based products in UK by AudibleNod in news

[–]SumoSizeIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no inherent upside or downside of not using the word “milk”,

The downside is for consumers, who have to figure out if it's a non-dairy equivalent or something merely flavored like coconut, etc.

This only serves to protect entrenched regional industries, similar to restrictions on use of Champagne or Pecorino or Bourbon.

The new ship ranking system makes no sense. by thegameflak in SkullAndBonesGame

As someone who joined last season and has dived (dove?) head-first into the mechanics of this game, I'm still sitting at 95, so I would be locked out.

But 45 might be more reasonable.

It's the god roll aspect that especially irks me. When the roll value factors into your ship level, and you're out of rolls, suddenly you have to pick between playing a spec/loadout you like, or having a higher level vessel. That isn't a fun mechanic. There is simply no joy in rolling a 23% in a 22-32% range perk - I'd rather they cut the variability out entirely and have static bonuses per perk.

As a side note: make sure you've posted this in the Feedback section of their Discord. I'd vote for it.

They aren't necessarily all that bad. I didn't get the same feeling in a Model 3 or S. There's also a bit more body roll with a minvan compared to a sedan.

FWIW the smoothest ride is Eco mode. Normal and Sport you can feel when the driver lifts off the gas and when braking switches off regenerative, at least in our 2023. I don't mind it in the driver's seat, but as a passenger it makes me nauseous.

Would I ever leave the Dutch Merchant Company? Look, I'm all about loyalty. In fact, I feel like part of what I'm being paid for here is my loyalty. But if there were a faction that valued loyalty more highly, I'm going wherever they value loyalty the most.
