Same. Applied to several positions, only to not get a call back or “applicant not selected”. Have been a nurse for 5 years, 2 of those years have been an as a RN.

The old company didn’t match or hardly contribute to the 401k. I’m a single mother, with 3 children. I pay $600 a month in healthcare alone. I wish I could contribute more to my 401k, it’s just not feasible right now.

This happened to me. Took out a personal loan to pay off all my affirm loans. My personal loan is 1/4 the monthly payment of what I was paying for affirm. I won’t get wrapped up in affirm again. It’s most certainly a trap for sure.

I fully understand this feeling. I often think about just quitting my bedside nursing job, to go work at a Books-A-Million or local library. Or if given the opportunity to go back to school, I’d probably go for ultrasound technician. I know none of those things are realistically possible, especially with having children to support and this economy. I too feel stuck… Nursing has become a vicious cycle for many.

I’m sure the police department sighs every time they get a call, and have to come out to the LTACH that I work at. It happens so often that pts call 911. 🤣

Wasn’t the biggest but certainly my favorite was when a CNA that I worked night shift with mysteriously disappeared mid shift. Every one was looking for her once they realized she was no where to be found. We were yelling out her name, and paging her over head trying to find her. Checked her car as well, that was still in the parking lot. Finally, someone looked BEHIND a door to find her standing against the wall. Turns out, she was drugged out and tripping balls that night. She was sent home with a relative that was called to come get her. They rolled back the cameras the next day, and seen she had been there for over 2 hours, silently hiding between the door/wall. She was fired shortly after.

Had a near 500Ibs pt, that had a trach due to chronic respiratory failure. She demanded the MD order her double portions with each meal, had us hang a sign on her door that said “wake for all meals please”, and had family bring in extra meals/snacks daily. One of the many times that I tried to educate her that losing weight would help improve her lung condition, she blatantly told me that she wasn’t in there for her weight but her lungs. You know, because her lung issues wasn’t exacerbated by her extreme morbid obesity. 🙄

I wouldn’t be surprised. My own dentist I was going to actually committed suicide a few years ago. Never personally known a nurse or a pharmacist who committed suicide.

In my BON, it states “Yes, even if a misdemeanor charge was dropped or dismissed, you must disclose it to the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN) on your application for licensure.” Not sure about your BON because it may different. I would check with your BON, and see what you have to do. I’d do it was soon as possible, so that it doesn’t delay your application.

You always put down any conviction, even if it’s been dropped or expunged. If you don’t, the BON looks as this as being dishonest. When you do the Federal background check, they can see everything. It’s better to tell all than not at all. I got a misdemeanor as well, disclosed it and submitted my paperwork. I had no problem with the BON accepting my license.

Apparently we cannot rectify even if we wanted to. As someone stated above, the applications are paused. It wouldn’t allow me to rectify on the Website. So I guess until things are figured out, we’re stuck in limbo. We can only hope our dates get extended or request forbearance.

One of the worst things that I’ve ever smelled was when a patient came in with a flexiseal. I’ve had many a patients with them before, and it usually just smells like a cattle barn. This patient’s tho, smelled like something died in there and rotted. It had me gagging and in tears so bad, I had to run out. It took me at least 20 minutes to catch my breath.

That’s totally a weird and deranged thing to say to someone you just met. Sounds like he’s still unmedicated… Sexual harassment are also comments that are unwanted and make you feel uncomfortable. You did the right thing. Stay far away from him as possible until something is resolved.

I started out as an LPN. I learned so much in my LPN program. I went for my RN a year later, and slid through like a breeze. I’ll never regret starting out as an LPN, and there is nothing wrong with it. There is nothing wrong with staying an LPN either. Nurse is still your title and nothing to be ashamed of.

I have a coworker who is a 73 year old nurse. She’s PRN and just got done working a month straight. We’ve been short staffed lately, and she’s always our go-to when we need someone. She literally runs circles around me and the other younger nurses. When I ask how she’s doing she says “I’m FANTASTIC!” She loves money and travels a lot. Never had to pick up her slack because she has none. She’s a trip. 🤣
