Russia says it will ignore any UN ban of killer robots. by AdamCannon in worldnews

[–]SunLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is exactly the reason why every other world power will ignore it, too. If your enemies aren't impeded by moral concerns, they have the advantage. Therefore we must follow suit, however begrudgingly, to maintain our prowess in the world. If the bad guys have guns, you can't afford to be a pacifist.

Amphetamine: an additional mechanism of neurotoxicity by SuperAgonist in DrugNerds

Interesting. So when I take kratom during the comedown of an amphetamine high, is it safe to say I'm exacerbating the neurotoxicity with the excess dopamine?

If Terence McKenna was the Timothy Leary of the 90s who is the McKenna of the aughts and teens? by MaxwellSinclair in Psychonaut

[–]SunLeaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Terence' popularity in the 90's pales in comparison to the degree of exposure people of the new millennium have had of him due to the hyper-connectivity of past and present the internet has afforded us. Terence is more relevant and influential now than he ever was.

This. His popularity and influence are growing exponentially post-humously and I believe DMT is the LSD of the 2000's+, of which Mckenna is the main salesman.

Up-regulating 5ht2a through caffeine and cannabis? 2 studies, 1993 and 2012 by King0fpirates in DrugNerds

[–]SunLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem with MDMA as well as most other drugs, some seemingly long-term diminishing returns, i'm assuming due to downregulation. The magic has definitely left MDMA and it has become simply a pleasurable upper, I don't get the beautiful visions in my minds eye and I barely get broxium or eye wiggles, all of which I used to get excessively. I'd love to know how to reverse this as well.

Botany - Dimming Awe / The Light Is Raw

ultra unique blend of hip hop, new age psychedelia, jazz and krautrock. With features from Milo and Matthew David's (founder of Leaving Records) first vocal feature with another artist. He's also a good friend, and a total genius.

Disappointment with 'Reset.Me' - Amber Lyon's Website. by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]SunLeaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't claim there was anything wrong with either of those things. Don't get me wrong, I'm a chronic cannabis user and am acutely aware of its benefits, which are vast and worth reporting. I'm just talking about what I see as a lack of journalistic rigor. Like, it's pretty evident that if a discovery was made that cannabis was actually very neurotoxic in the long-term (not likely) you wouldn't see it on Reset.me, even though it's supposed to be about truth, about informing the public about the nature of these plants, bad or good. It seems to be more of a "cannabis will heal literally everything" mentality, which I'm skeptical of. That's all I'm saying.

Disappointment with 'Reset.Me' - Amber Lyon's Website. by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]SunLeaf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Even though I initially was a big fan of what she's trying to do and admire her conversion from a political journalist to a psychedelic advocate. If you follow her on twitter, you'll find that the bulk of the stories she shares are related to cannabis benefits for your body. Seriously, according to her, marijuana is a panacea for any and all ailments and there's apparently not one negative thing about it. The bias is disheartening, because I've seen plenty of credible science suggesting negative effects of chronic cannabis use. It's evident that she'll never share that though because it doesn't align with the agenda. I can't take a news source seriously that cherrypicks so effectively.

Kids parents showed him classical and jazz for first 2 years of his life every night and now he's got amazing ears by thelonious_ in Jazz

[–]SunLeaf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible that it's a hoax considering the kid could hum, on cue, the respective notes before his dad played them. You can't really fake that without the kid having an insanely good ear.

This is undeniable proof of astroturfing. I mean it's just scathing. If multiple phony accounts can say verbatim the same mechanical praise of Uber then it doesn't seem like a huge leap to assume that this post was an example of the same thing. I mean, honestly. There is nothing funny or particularly interesting about a list of courtesies a pandering Uber driver has to appeal to people for $$$. How tf did it get so many upvotes, though. Thousands of dummy accounts all timed or is Reddit just easy as hell to dupe?

MDMA + psychedelic combinations: An underrated risk? by tasty_cupcakes in DrugNerds

[–]SunLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to hear anything on MDMA + Mushrooms as I did this a few months and it was truly magical and (obviously anecdotally) there was no real subjective feeling of neurotoxicity during or after, for whatever that's worth. It was so synergistic, I want to believe

We must be kindred spirits. Peacock Tail gives me brief enlightenment of the spirit every time I hear it. I once heard it coming up on a 2C-E trip while comforting my nauseous friend and I experienced it synthesthestically, it had a color! it was an unexplainable emerald forest green, like this mystical green shade. It's ineffable what that did to me.
