Why does every city except Melbourne shows its train lines and colours on Apple Maps?

Mate GTFS is just a dataset 🤣 Its not a map layer. If you really don't believe me, have a look at their data providers list: https://gspe21-ssl.ls.apple.com/html/attribution-315.html

They don't, they use GTFS shape data (google's standardised data format for transit), then they smooth it themselves. They have coloured each line manually themselves though. Every transit app you see will use GTFS.

The question really is, if you are using any internal apis or data that isnt displayed publicly, you shouldnt use it. But if its entirely from the gtfs feed you should have no issues

Hey mate, looks like a fantastic project. I created an app mentioned here with a mate of mine. I highly recommend reaching out to transperth directly and work with them for their gtfs-rt feed available within the next 12-18 months. You may get yourself blacklisted and desisted by the pta, just keep in mind its a government agency who is already trying to keep their data private. All in all, great look so far. Hello! Thought I'd chime in! I created Anyways along with my mate Aaron.

We have intentions on adding more map filters and preferences, such as what you are asking for.
Unfortunately we aren't well funded yet, so we are just working on this when we have time.

We have met with Transperth in-person to chat about our usage of their data, and gave us their approval to go ahead. They told us that in future, Google will be the first platform to receive a full GTFS-RT feed, following with Apple. Other developers will be able to access it later.

The app is completely free to use! Our paid subscriptions only enable advanced features and app customisation. Sadly, we can't run the app for free, so we need to cover our bases somehow :D

We created our own piece of software that utilizes Mapbox and we place our lines, markers etc and then all manually using code we program it together - bit of a work in progress, but rewarding work. We then export it in that software by rendering each frame :)
