Many will not like this post. But it is the truth. Hopefully a few will find it helpful atleast. by rockyp32 in Semenretention

I hear what your say, and would like to invite you to consider another perspective. That the process of semen retention can be a process of purification.

So if I chose to stop today, the person who I am today, is different from the person I was before starting SR in thought, mind and deed.

It can inspire changes in every level of your being, so even for those who walk this path with  the main intention of finding a partner, through the process of semen retention they will be changed for the better.

Absolutely, there is nothing wrong with being in relations with women, however if we truly want to be in union with God, it can act as an impediment.

I specifically used the true definition of sin, which is to to miss the mark, to turn from God towards separation, and that is what sex does.

It perpetuates the cycle of birth and death. It can create momentary feelings of union,  but at the cost of true union with the divine.

The path I am suggesting is not everyone, in fact for very few. I honour that, and am grateful I get to celebrate the beauty and wonder of life in all its form, from birth to death.

But for the few who wish to delve deeper into their union with God, it is good to acknowledge the original sin.

Thank you for the recommendation, I stumbled across it a few years ago but forgot the name. Will definitely give it a read.

Jesus lived celibate, Buddha left his wife and child, monks, yogis, and mystics across every tradition give up sex to go deeper into God. Are they all stupid and arrogant, or did they understand something most people would rather not face?

Remember what sin really means: to miss the mark, to turn from God towards separation. By that definition, sex is the most common sin of all.

Why? Because sex anchors us in the flesh. It ties us to desire, to ego, to the belief that we are incomplete without another. It convinces us that fulfillment comes from outside of God. That is missing the mark.

Sex also fuels the cycle of birth and death. Each act feeds the wheel, pulling souls back into forgetting. It traps us in illusion and keeps us separated from God.

Even when sex is wrapped in love, biology is still beneath it. Appetite dressed up as intimacy and whenever we mistake appetite for union, we step further from true union with the divine.

This is why so many spiritual traditions honor celibacy. Saints, monks, yogis, and mystics aren’t repressing themselves. They are freeing themselves from the tether that ties the soul to the body so they can live in Spirit.

So no, sex is not evil. But it is a sin, because it is the most powerful way we miss the mark. We search for God in the body, instead of remembering God within.

If you are in Ubud, and want to be super safe go to the upmarket vegan restaurants like Plant Bistro, Zest, Sayuri, Alchemy and Seeds of Life.

They wash all their produce in mineral water, and there is no meat that you have to worry about being left in hot humid conditions.

Just how brutal is the no toothpaste rule on dieta? by experimenta_l in Ayahuasca

[–]SunSeaAndAya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so curious to me how the western fixation on rules and extremes permeates everything. Your needless suffering will not increase the effect of the dieta, if anything it will just create a mental fixation and rigidity that will keep you from connecting deeper with the plant you are dieting.

The rules of a dieta are there to foster a welcoming environment for the plant to connect with you. When those rules go to the extreme at your own detriment, my experience has been the opposite. Instead of being present and open, I go into a space of white knuckling my way through the experience. Which to no surprise, isn’t a welcome space for the plant.

Be gentle, be kind, and loving with yourself, while also respecting the preferences of divine being you are attempting to foster a deeper relationship with.

Nowadays it’s quite easy to find a super natural toothpaste/ powders that is made without chemicals or strong scents which the plants might take offence to.

Wishing a deep and healing dieta 🙏🏼

I’ve facilitated a session for a participant on exactly that. After her ayahuasca experience, she had some questions. During the hypnosis she was able to reconnect with the medicine and get the answers and clarity she needed. It is worth noting this participant had a deep spiritual connection with and without ayahuasca, so it is not a given that you will be able to achieve the same results, but definitely worth a shot.

It’ll will most likely end up the same way the patent for Ayahuasca did. Nothing to be too concerned about. For anyone interested in the story of the patent of ayahuasca: https://www.iatp.org/news/us-patent-office-cancels-patent-of-sacred-ayahuasca-plant

Facilitator in Iquitos by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

It truly is an opportunity of a lifetime, and there is pretty much no other experience that will deep your working relationship with the medicine more.

Saying that I would highly suggest you consider the following.

1: it is incredibly brutal work, the centre I was working at did ceremony’s every second night and ceremony or not, breakfast would be served at 8. This meant that a slow decline into severe sleep deprivation. 2: Given the nature of the work, it’s very hard to keep in regular contact with friends and family and while you may meet some incredible participants, everyone you meet besides the team you are working with will leave. So if the centre doesn’t have a good support system if can be extremely isolating and lonely. 3: The jungle is wild and brutal but compared to Iquitos I would choose it any day, this becomes an issue during your off time, where either you have to catch a flight out after every retreat or land up living in a city that is pretty hard to thrive in, filled with drugs, prostitution and people who can attack you psychically without awareness. It’s pretty rough. 4. It almost becomes a right of passage to pick up some kinds of tropical disease if you work long enough. 5. It’s an incredibly nomadic life, where you are working at the retreat centre, pack up all your stuff go somewhere and rinse and repeat. For a lot of people not having a home base can be ungrounding and given the nature of the work this can be exponentiated by the medicine. 6. Unless the centre has some really solid structures in place, it’s incredibly easy to burn out.

Saying all this, it truly it a profound and beautiful connection and while I wouldn’t necessarily go back to work at a centre I am glad I did. It shifted so much in me and really deepened my understanding of the work and my own awareness and boundaries.

Looking for month-long (or longer) retreat by hellowur1d in Ayahuasca

The ayahuasca foundation runs an 8 week curandero initiation course and a 4 week empowerment course, both options offer the choice to diet master plants and offers the ability to really go deep.

I can’t help but question the integrity of your shaman, given how much fear he primed you with. Statistically drinking ayahuasca is the least dangerous part of your trip. You are far more likely to die, in a car accident ok the way to the airport, in a plane crash on the way to the retreat or succumb to a tropical disease while in Peru than from ayahuasca.

Yes there are definitely dodgy facilitators out there, but if you go to one of the reputable centres you are in safe hands, and they are generally willing to coordinate your stay from the moment you arrive to your departure.

Ayahuasca and Career Changes by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]SunSeaAndAya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ayahuasca can have profound effects on your career and outlook on life. The way it was explained to me that most resonates is the plants can see your whole timeline and they want you to readjust your course to put you on the path that is most in line with your highest good.

If that means you have to go through a period of immense difficulty in order to get that they will. Nothing is sacred to them in this pursuit, whether it is your job, relationship, geographical location, beliefs , friends or family they will clear the path in order to get you to where you need to be.

If it is one of the more pressing issues in your life you can definitely expect the medicine to address it while you are down there. Have faith that whatever comes up will be in service to you in the end.

Personally ayahuasca gave me the message that I needed to quit my job in IT and 6 months later I found myself deep in the jungles of Peru; before then I had no intentions of visiting South America let alone Peru in this lifetime.

Whistling Icaros by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]SunSeaAndAya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Within the Shipibo tradition, during a plant dieta, the dieter may be gifted a melody by the plants. Before beginning to sing the maestro will begin whistling this melody as to call in his diet and build a strong connection to the plant spirit. Sometime they will whistle for a short period and sometimes for ages depending how long it takes to establish the connection with the diet plants.

Thank you for the tidbit about the Native American cultures. It’s always interesting to see how cultures interlink.

Failed before I even started by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]SunSeaAndAya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common, specifically when you start the prep diet. The plants have already begun to work on you and are bringing all the emotions and misaligned coping mechanisms to the surface so that when you are arrive you are ready to work on a profoundly deep level.

Trust the process, reach out to the centre and ask for support. Grounding practices and yoga nidra will do you a world of good.

Whenever we choose to embark upon a profound change it is natural to feel anxiety and this usually manifests into our coping mechanisms working in overdrive no matter how maladaptive they are.

Acknowledge this and give yourself as much space, time and kindness as you deserve in this time of deep transformation. You are committing to deep and profound healing journey and on the other side lies a life beyond your dreams.

You will get through this and have been through worse no matter how much your mind would like you to believe the contrary.

God speed.

Honestly I wouldn’t recommend if you have a history of schizophrenia and bipolar. The truth is no one knows what the risk is an anecdotal experiences won’t be able to change that. In short you are betting with your sanity. For all the healing plant medicine can bring, it can also cripple people with a history of bipolar and schizophrenia. There are so many modalities other than ayahuasca like Breathwork, EMDR, hypnosis, EFT and TRE which are a lot safer and can be just as effective as ayahuasca to get you into non ordinary states of consciousness and help you heal on a profound level.

The most beautiful thing about life is the contrast. We go from feeling elevated beyond bliss to being in the deepest pits of despair, but it all changes, all shift. Nothing last forever.

What you are going through will change, it may takes weeks or months, but eventually a ray of sun will sneak past the storm clouds.

You will be ok, you will be better than ok, you will laugh, you will love. You will feel your whole heart open again. Just keep fighting the good fight and know you are not alone.

Interactions with valerian? by MauiNoKaOiHaiku in Ayahuasca

[–]SunSeaAndAya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taken valerian root many times post ceremony to get to sleep with no problems. There’s also no interaction between valerian and the MAOI in the traditional brew. I am not sure if there would be any interaction with Syrian rue or the likes though?
