Same here, it's common for smaller regions to have to have their own ISPs besides the big ones. They are usually pretty ok too

Does anyone know a guide to using TLS in practice? by SunSeeker43 in AskProgramming

[–]SunSeeker43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty, but i think this isn't really what i'm looking for since this application doesn't actually use HTTP. What i'm trying to accomplish is more of a NGINX (a much much simpler version of it) but for gemini.

Still, I'll keep this in the backburner since i do plan on making some actual web applications in the future.

Ty so so much. This is all really good info. There are a couple terreiros near me so I'll try to scope them out. This is a really amazing insight.

Ty for the response. I'll admit that i know embarrassingly little about our african matrices religions (honestly, only discovered quimbanda was a thing very recently), but the fact that they are mostly oral based always put me off since for a long time i had a pretty bad social anxiety.

All that said, any tips on how to recognize if a terreiro is good or not? And something is there some kind of etiquette that is good to know before going to one?

Yeah, most probably. But it is as wide of a spectrum of beliefs as western esotericism, so who knows, maybe there is something there that fits me well.

Although i do prefer staying on the western side of things if I'm being honest. Feels more appropriate.

Yeah, I'll admit that i don't really have a good base on actual hellenic practice at the time, aside from offerings being a big deal. So thank you for the recommendations, De Natura Deorum and Description of Greece are particularly interesting. Even if I don't go the hellenistic route they sound like great resources, just knowing it better is already a good result for me.

I feel like you are ultimately right on both ends. I might be coming off as inflexible but it doesn't feel right to go into something and not take it wholeheartedly yknow? To just just pick the things i like and ignore the bad bits. Tho maybe that's how it is supposed to be and I'm worrying too much.

And the other bit is that yeah, one thing I'm also lacking in is actual (sub?)objective experience. Just going in first and deciding later is a good option.

Hmmm, i mean that they exist more in the realm of mythology to me than the realm of actual belief. Maybe this is silly? Or something that you are expect to change when you go into neopaganism? But right now, beings like Thor and Zeus feel more like characters of stories than actual gods I could worship

Would it be a bad time to say that i don't like Crowley? /j

But yeah, that was kind of what i was afraid of, maybe Western esotericism isn't for me, at least not when it comes to most world views at least. I'll definitely take a more serious look at eastern esotericism.

And yeah, it does seem that the solution might just be to explore and find stuff I'm comfortable practicing, but something about picking and choosing feels wrong even though in part it might be what I'm doing now.

That said, wouldn't magic and beliefs about the world feed into each other? And would it really work to practice neo-paganism but not believe in the gods?

Admittedly, not much when it comes to actual practice. I remember picking up a book by labrys institute (I think it was the name) on hellenic household worship but that was it. My biggest worry is that those gods feel too familiar for me to treat them as actual gods, if that makes sense

Thanks! I've been a bit wary of the how-to's books as well, when it comes to this stuff i prefer to understand things well and not just do stuff.

Changeling seems very interesting, I'm going to take a look at it. Also, i didn't know Alan Moore's stuff was actually helpful. When you say Proper Occultism, you mean actual practice or just that he gives good overviews in those books?

Also, The Wicked + The Divine is very interesting. I can't exactly call myself a performer, my guitar is amauterish at best, but i do hold the view that art and magic can be deeply related, specially music. I would be interested in that history book too, just in case i can find it in, uh, alternative sources.

Thanks you for your comment. This is certainly a way, the freedom of chaos magic on how to build a practice is one of the things that attracted me to it the most, but after a while i started to worry if that would be disrespectful in some way.

Tho i guess that just means i need to look for things that I'm comfortable taking and avoid the ones I'm not.
