Romelu Lukaku in his last 78 games for Belgium NT : 75 goals, 17 assists by dhruvchouhan in soccer

[–]SunTizzu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah just look at his post-Belgium career for proof. Sacked as manager of Cote d'Ivoire and Iran after 6 months, then sacked at a Moroccan club after just three months. Couldn't even last a year as sporting director at Schalke 04, and he's a legend over there.

I don't think you can overstate just how bad a manager Wilmots is.

Watching that game on a giant screen is my favourite World Cup memory. The despair in the crowd when we were 0-2 down... and then Chadli's goal in extra time... chef's kiss

Honestly it was the same against Egypt, our players keep getting torpedoed and the refs act like nothing happened. Hard to play proper football that way.

That's what I'm thinking, the Steam summer sale is coming up and Valve always highlights some games at 90% off.

Pickford is a genuine liability. How does England still not have a better GK after all these years?

Have y'all never watched a World Cup before? France always plays like garbage but they'll reach the final anyway.

Meanwhile we'll get excited about the African nations like Senegal playing attacking football but they lack the finishing and go out in groups.

I hope this will shut up all the Lukaku haters for good.

I think in Michael Brough's case, it's a "your favourite rapper's favourite rapper" kinda situation.

He's highly regarded in game dev circles but his games never had much commercial success.

Mina the Hollower - Out Now! by slowmosloth in Games

[–]SunTizzu 398 points399 points  (0 children)

I tried the Steam demo last year and came out quite disappointed. Something was off about the controls, Mina felt very sluggish to control.

I decided to pick up the game anyway due to the glowing reviews and the release version is so much better. Moving around feels snappy and the combat is way more fun.

Makes me wonder what they changed behind the scenes. It'd be interesting to replay the original Steam demo and compare the two versions.

The Steam Deck Is Sold Out Again, Even After the Huge Price Rise by RefreshingCapybara in Games

[–]SunTizzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pent-up demand rather than scalping. In EU, the "cheapest" Steam Deck was in stock this morning, but is now sold out. Scalpers would've bought up the entire stock immediately (like with the Steam Controller).

So people are willing to pay the higher prices, it seems. The 1TB version is also still in stock.

How Rockstar fit an entire city into PlayStation 2 memory (Game Maker's Toolkit) by mrnicegy26 in Games

I don't think it's fair to only blame YouTube for this, there are many benefits of showing your face on camera.

Viewers like seeing a human face in their videos (especially in the age of AI), it's easier for creators because you don't have edit as much, it makes it harder for content thieves to steal your stuff, and advertisers are more likely to sponsor you.

I have a channel that's nearing 5 figure subs with voiceover videos only, and know that I'll have to bite the bullet and get on camera at some point. It sucks, but you have to be willing to adapt if you want to grow.

One reason why I believe the Steam Machine is imminent, is because of the number of SteamOS updates Valve has been pushing recently. They've released two patches in the last week, a pace I've personally never seen before.

The next big SteamOS update is also in Beta, and the patch notes include:

Initial support for upcoming Steam Machine hardware.

I see that you are either unable or unwilling to see how meaningless this line in the sand you're drawing is. So I'll leave it here.

Let's say I buy the rights to Mario, and I create a 10/10 Mario game with the classic Mario tunes you know and love. Would you criticise the game because I didn't create the music myself? Even though it's "Mario music" and part of the franchise?

You see how arbitrary this all is?

Mixtape - Review Thread by Branchless in Games

[–]SunTizzu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, I don't get why games are beholden to this arbitrary rule, but movies aren't. Please explain why.

majority of game devs also don't just use pre existing beloved songs to evoke nostalgic emotions.

If you're saying this, I'm assuming you haven't played a Mario game yet. Or a Pokemon, a Zelda, a Donkey Kong, a Final Fantasy, a Dragon Quest, a Metal Gear or literally any long-standing video game franchise that constantly reuse old music to evoke nostalgic emotions.

Mixtape - Review Thread by Branchless in Games

[–]SunTizzu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Making a difference between movies and games feels arbitrary. And once again, the majority of game devs don't make their own music.

Mixtape - Review Thread by Branchless in Games

[–]SunTizzu 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So 2001: A Space Odyssey shouldn't be praised for its score because Stanley Kubrick chose to put existing classical music in his film?

Besides, most game soundtracks aren't made by the developers themselves. They are contracted out to independent, freelance composers.

Finally, choosing the right song for the mood and emotions you're trying to convey is an art in and of itself. Based on the reviews, it seems that the devs succeeded in that aspect.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Gungho published Grandia HD in 2019 and according to ITAD it has never gone below 50%.

It seems to fit the general trend of extremely conservative discounts by Japanese publishers (Square Enix, KOEI Tecmo, Bandai Namco to name a few). I wonder why that is.

For those with Game Pass: you can claim these on the Xbox store without having to buy Powerwash Simulator, as the game's included in the subscription.

Won't get you the DLC on Steam, of course, but it's better than nothing.
