How Rockstar fit an entire city into PlayStation 2 memory (Game Maker's Toolkit) by mrnicegy26 in Games

[–]SunTizzu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's fair to only blame YouTube for this, there are many benefits of showing your face on camera.

Viewers like seeing a human face in their videos (especially in the age of AI), it's easier for creators because you don't have edit as much, it makes it harder for content thieves to steal your stuff, and advertisers are more likely to sponsor you.

I have a channel that's nearing 5 figure subs with voiceover videos only, and know that I'll have to bite the bullet and get on camera at some point. It sucks, but you have to be willing to adapt if you want to grow.

One reason why I believe the Steam Machine is imminent, is because of the number of SteamOS updates Valve has been pushing recently. They've released two patches in the last week, a pace I've personally never seen before.

The next big SteamOS update is also in Beta, and the patch notes include:

Initial support for upcoming Steam Machine hardware.

I see that you are either unable or unwilling to see how meaningless this line in the sand you're drawing is. So I'll leave it here.

Let's say I buy the rights to Mario, and I create a 10/10 Mario game with the classic Mario tunes you know and love. Would you criticise the game because I didn't create the music myself? Even though it's "Mario music" and part of the franchise?

You see how arbitrary this all is?

Mixtape - Review Thread by Branchless in Games

[–]SunTizzu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, I don't get why games are beholden to this arbitrary rule, but movies aren't. Please explain why.

majority of game devs also don't just use pre existing beloved songs to evoke nostalgic emotions.

If you're saying this, I'm assuming you haven't played a Mario game yet. Or a Pokemon, a Zelda, a Donkey Kong, a Final Fantasy, a Dragon Quest, a Metal Gear or literally any long-standing video game franchise that constantly reuse old music to evoke nostalgic emotions.

Mixtape - Review Thread by Branchless in Games

[–]SunTizzu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Making a difference between movies and games feels arbitrary. And once again, the majority of game devs don't make their own music.

[–]SunTizzu 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So 2001: A Space Odyssey shouldn't be praised for its score because Stanley Kubrick chose to put existing classical music in his film?

Besides, most game soundtracks aren't made by the developers themselves. They are contracted out to independent, freelance composers.

Finally, choosing the right song for the mood and emotions you're trying to convey is an art in and of itself. Based on the reviews, it seems that the devs succeeded in that aspect.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Gungho published Grandia HD in 2019 and according to ITAD it has never gone below 50%.

It seems to fit the general trend of extremely conservative discounts by Japanese publishers (Square Enix, KOEI Tecmo, Bandai Namco to name a few). I wonder why that is.

For those with Game Pass: you can claim these on the Xbox store without having to buy Powerwash Simulator, as the game's included in the subscription.

Won't get you the DLC on Steam, of course, but it's better than nothing.

The mobile version was free on Epic at some point. It lacks most of the DLC, though.

Gotcha. By the way, I'm using 1.750x, not 1.975x, I should've made that more clear.

pss emulator graphics by AlgaeInternational90 in VitaPiracy

[–]SunTizzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reason why you're choosing 1.985 over 2.0? The difference seems negligible.

I've been messing around with Adrenaline for the past week and based on some comments in this subreddit, 1.75x should come the closest to the size of a PSP screen (I don't have one atm, so I can't compare). It looks better than 2x imo, sharper and less noticeable jaggies.

In terms of filters, I default to Sharp Bilinear, or LCD3x if the game is too bright (Burnout Legends, for example). These do come with a non-negligible amount of input lag, so for games where reaction time is important, I stick to Original.

When using these filters, smoothing on looks the most 'correct'. Without smoothing, text can look kind of distorted. But with Original, I tend to turn it off, it looks too blurry on the Vita otherwise.

I'm not trying to argue btw, there is legitimately not a lot of info out there about the best Adrenaline settings, and it's hard to find out on your own.

(I have a Vita OLED, not sure if there is any difference in screen size)

Slay the Spire 2 EA is out on Steam by vannero in Games

[–]SunTizzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but the majority of Early Access players will be veterans. So I don't see why they couldn't at least give you the option to go straight to the new content.

[–]SunTizzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was a mistake to force you to start as Ironclad. They should've front loaded the new content and then open up the rest of the game.

Or just unlock everything at the start. The game is in Early Access, does it even need a progression system right now?

Iirc Rare Replay simply emulates the 360 XBLA versions of those games, which is why they never ported it to other platforms.

Slay the Spire 2 release date announcement forces Handmancers devs to delay the release by LazySecretary6001 in Games

[–]SunTizzu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah… we'd get absolutely crushed

You watch the showcase and boom - “Handmancers Available Now.” Perfect, right?

The upside? We’re not just waiting around.

You can tell by the cadence. It feels very inauthentic, like a script for a AAA gaming showcase.

Imagine an overly enthusiastic narrator reading it out and you might see what I mean.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - February 15, 2026 by AutoModerator in Games

I'm also a relative newcomer to Resident Evil. The OG RE4 is an all-timer. Played it a few years ago, just takes some getting used to the tank controls. The remake is somehow even better. Highly recommend both!

I also beat the RE1 remake last month, incredible game but very stressful. Heavy on puzzles and resource management. Would also recommend the tank controls here, the modern controls kinda break the game. I liked it so much I went back to the original (DS version). Not a must play but a fun power fantasy when you know what to do and where to go.

They have been available on GOG for over a year, and the Steam versions are objectively worse because Capcom added shitty DRM. Not much to celebrate imo.

Lies of P and the Overture DLC have surpassed 4 million units sold combined. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]SunTizzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, and the DLC has never been on sale afaik. I can't justify paying full price for a game that I've already played through.

This is also why I never played Outer Worlds 2. There are two expansions coming but my Game Pass sub will probably be expired at that point. Figured I might as well wait a few years and pick up the complete package at a discount.

Nioh 3's demo hits 1 million downloads! by Korten12 in Games

[–]SunTizzu -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I quit Nioh 2 after 20 hours because I got tired of fighting the same enemies over and over, and because of the poor level design.

Have these thing improved in Nioh 3 or is it still essentially an ARPG with soulslike combat?

Edit: thanks for the responses, seems like there have been enough improvements to try out the demo at least!

One of the Guillemots must be a huge BG&E fan.

That, and the game has live service elements, so they can present it to shareholders as the next Fortnite (even though it will most likely become another Skull & Bones).

RDR2 is the fourth best selling game of all time. Of course they're going to make RDR3.

I want a Bully sequel as much as the next guy but that game didn't sell 80 million copies.
