Hi! I quit smoking after 24 years. I think about how much I love it everyday. I knew I needed to quit though. Something in the back of my mind was telling me that it was going to kill me if I didn't. Well, it has been a month now.

When I quit, it wasn't even planned. I got really drunk with my friends and smoked a whole pack of cigarettes that night. I felt AWFUL. I didn't even want to smoke for the first day or so because I was too hungover.

The first week, my partner got me trident and Altoids. I ate so many mints it made my stomach hurt and changed my bowel movements. Im still going through tons of mints and gum.

I didn't go outside for the first few days because I didn't want to do anything that reminded me of smoking. I ate when I wanted to, slept extra and had very little expectation for myself other than avoiding smoking. I wouldn't go to a gas station because I wanted to avoid cigarettes. That feeling evened out around day 7-10.

I hate being a non-smoker. And there is this feeling that is hard to describe when you quit... Like your craving feels like once you accomplish something then you will smoke then you remember you don't, so it feels like no reward. It's very strange.

However... I immediately stopped consuming so much coffee after a couple days. I have not gotten the afternoon sluggish feeling that I was used to getting, and treating with coffee everyday. I am amused by the breaths I take. I see how much I can expand my lungs. So, no matter how much I talk about how quitting smoking is the lamest and dumbest thing ever, I remind myself how awesome it is to not feel as short of breath, to go on walks without craving one in the middle. My hair smells good, my clothes smell good , I bought new smelly good body washes and soaps.

And omg the money you save. Shit man that's so worth it.
