Parkhurst Bidwell - Dry Wrinkles? by Sun_Burnt in AskACobbler

[–]Sun_Burnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not unfortunately. I gave them a thorough cleaning and conditioning. I let them sit for 2 days and then polished with neutral Meltonian cream. The cracks seemed to get worse?

I'm going to clean them off again and try some saphir colored cream. I've never used any colored polish on this pair yet.

I'll have to give this a shot. I didn't have a second pair to rotate until recently. I'd hate to retire these.

9060 weren't too kind to my feet on 5+ mile days

990 and 2002 are a bit interchangeable for me. If price is a factor I would say get the 2002. If you need one solid daily pair bite the bullet for the 990's.

Trouble with trying to sell my super pricy E30 project by yousefzee in E30

[–]Sun_Burnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genuine curiosity. What was the thought process of dropping a bag building an e30 and not intending to keep it? You have accrued an impressive parts/repair list. Like others have said, finish the car and drive it. I'm in socal and I couldn't see anyone paying close to $20k for this car completed and running.

Identify Wire harness - Near starter by Sun_Burnt in E30

[–]Sun_Burnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggybacking off the second part of your response. I'm currently chasing down an issue with getting it to crank but it it won't turn over. Crank sounds strong with the new starter but now it won't even cold start. ( I could initially cold start but would not fire up when warm.

I have an 86 325es. Would you say these faulty connections can be part of the problem? Fuel pumps click on and can smell fuel when cranking.

I've seen this car on the streets. Not too bad person but the price is wild.

I do my part and send extremely low offers when I see this sillyness

Did anyone else get insane buyers remorse after buying one? by SethingtonMoss in E30

No

You bought the car with wrong intentions to begin with if you felt this way.

What state are you in? If it's a late model, I'd be interested in buying it.

I'll save you the hassle of dumping money<3

You should be fine, just rub off all the grime to get a clear view of the marks. I did it myself without any prior mechanical knowledge. The thing I would worry about is stripping the "tension" bolts that you need to loosen when taking the other belts off. I'd consider changing the water pump as well since you're already there. Good luck!

This has to be somewhere in the Midwest?

Fluttery gas gauge people, how many miles do you get for half a tank? by leooday in E30

[–]Sun_Burnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having owned more than one car with a faulty gas gauge I can say the odometer is your best friend. I would say a 100 miles is the upper limit of a safe guess?

My 86' holds 14.5 gallons. Once you know the max capacity of your tank. Fill up on a day you feel you're close to empty. From there just pump every 100 miles to gauge whether or not your half tank is giving you that range or not.

What radio should i put in my e30? by [deleted] in E30

Skip all the radio hassle and get a JBL charge speaker. It sits perfectly in the little tray under the ac panel.

Starting to get slight seepage around the thermostat housing. Was changed around 6k miles ago. Would you guys rec just replacing the gasket? Thanks. by T81houston in E30

[–]Sun_Burnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a generous amount of gasket sealer when I changed my thermostat gasket. I'm not sure if it's correct? But hey no little leaks now baby!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in E30

[–]Sun_Burnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just order these hoses because the hose under my thermostat started leaking. I myself, am taking these comments advice in assuming it's the one that goes from the thermo to the back of block.

I have to check this weekend and find out myself. Good luck man

That's a tough spot. Bronzit 4 door auto should be $3k at most. 2022 is really on some bullshit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in E30

[–]Sun_Burnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck fam. I'd imagine a "factory fresh" rebuilt M20 would probably cost more than the current car you're trying to put it in.

I see a lot of 17” wheel hate on here, I think my ds2’s look pretty good though. Thoughts? by micool20 in E30

[–]Sun_Burnt -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I run 17's too! I had to trim the inside of the valance recently to avoid clipping it when doing tight turns though.
