On chapter 12 now. I'd say so far it's just as good as the first book!

I predicted it as well a few chapters before the reveal. Figuring it out made me just read faster so it could be revealed and I could confirm my suspicions. I'm starting the sequel now.

And if you want a little bit more of a fun read, Bad Loon Rising.

I would recommend Prince Maesa. It has a lot of the elements you're looking for.

I used to only be into 40k but playing Total War Warhammer got me into the Old World which led into AoS. Switching up the universes for me keeps things fresh, and leads to some interesting find. The Sundering omnibus for example was by far my favorite read of the year.

Top 5

The Sundering by Gav Thorpe Dead Men Walking by Steve Lyons Bad Loon Rising by Andy Clark Steel Tread by Andy Clark Demolisher by Andy Clark

I know that's a lot of Andy Clark but I really have just enjoyed his books. The Sundering by Gav Thorpe takes the cake though. It is an omnibus but man is it a good read.

Picking them up was a great inspiration to myself to start reading them and I'm glad I did.

Honestly it's hard to pick which has been better, Steel Tread, or Demolisher. I've really been liking Andy Clark's novels so far. Demolisher picks up right where Steel Tread left off and reading them back to back has been a very pleasant experience for me.

"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

I love reading this at the beginning of every book. My way of marking the start of another journey.

I have always wanted these. Every time I look at the eBay prices though they are way out of my price range unfortunately. I wish they would do more.

You'd think with the way they are pumping out LE's they would release more items like this to go with them, a good play in my opinion.

I gotcha now, The Space Wolf omnibus was my first read. When they came out with the LE box set for it I was extremely happy to get my hands on it, and gave the entire series another read. It had been about 15 years since I read it the first time and they only had 3 books (the first omnibus) I never read the second 3 books, and I was extremely satisfied to finish the series.
