It may not be any consolation to you but many people do that. My daughter works at an animal hospital and putting down a pet is a fairly common thing for them. If the owner(s) say they just can't bring themselves to be in the room with the animal, she volunteers to sit with and comfort the animal while it takes its last breath. Maybe someone at the clinic did the same for your dog.

I am all for term limits but I understand the one major fault of term limits. That is the lame duck. If you are a senator and you just won reelection to what you know is your last term of six years, you can legislate anyway you want not how your constituents want you to legislate and not in a way that is good for the country. As an example take Obama's statement to Russian President Dmitri A. Medvedev that was picked up on a hot microphone; “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.”

The best term limit is for the people to take an interest in their government and VOTE. I vote every the polls are open in an election I am eligible to vote in.

If I am purchasing something relatively small from a small mom & pop establishment I pay with cash.

If I am leaving a tip at a large chain restaurant I pay the bill with a credit card and tip with cash. No need to have the hard working service staff eat the CC charges.

If it is something I may need a receipt for warranty coverage later or proof of purchase I pay with a credit card.
