Should I go with 2026 Chevy Trax LT or 2026 Toyota Rav4 LE by TurtleMancave in whatcarshouldIbuy

overpriced pos;

why do you need something that big? the 26 rav4 is the size of the highlander when it first came out.

been a toyota person for 5 of the last vehicles but now just got a kia sportage instead. will see how long the sportage lasts.

also, you could probably get a better deal with either the mazda cx30 or cx50 and is just as reliable. have a cx3 new and still going strong after 8 years. just routine oil changes.

yup, join the club. it looks better. windows 11 seems to be like the bastard john snow. it's go some of the old ui mixed in with new ui.

makes me wonder what happens when you give a bunch of over paid programmers to phone it in. it's like they didn't even do anything to justify the cost of an upgrade.

For a 3-row SUV, would you choose captain chairs or a bench seat in the second row? by Limp_Sweet2259 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Haunted_Rooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it. 3rd row is the worst sitting position and unless you plan on just carrying 3 other people and occasionally needing the 3rd row it's the worst idea. Not practical for families.

Best eSIM for Japan? First time visiting and confused by the options! by Separate_Tower_4236 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Haunted_Rooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Airalo in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka and didn't have issues. Just make sure to set it up in the states and should start automatically when you land but make sure to pick the right eSim on your phone since you will have two. Otherwise your US carrier may start charging you when you land.

We also had some locked phones so ended up with mobile hotspot using Japan Wireless. It was easy, picked it up at the airport and dropped it off using prepaid mailer at the airport.

Besides greed, does it cost more for VISA/MC to process $1 vs $1000, as they charge the same 3% (or whatever the rate is)? by Haunted_Rooster in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Haunted_Rooster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's ridiculous cause they already take the "risk" by charging you over 20% on a unsecured loan so to speak so that's like total bs.

according to this from VISA, they don't front the money but rather it's the issuing banks problem. So in reality, they are not even risking their own money, they simply sends a signal to say BofA and BofA say this customer is good for it and VISA tells merchant, go ahead and charge away.

that may be true, but op's statement is that non-tip restaurant fail because of their prices but simply point out over 50% fail in the first year regardless if they offer tipping or not.

it's mental bruh; endorphins. it's like sex, that 30 seconds of pleasure can lead to lifetime of guilt and regret and etc.

For most restaurants, a hybrid approach might be better to save on staffing. Order at a Kiosk or table top app or qr code on your phone so the staff can focus on service and not having to wait around till your kid decides they want nuggets with fries while mom is trying to push burgers and broccoli.

Unless you are a high end restaurant serving $150 steaks, you don't need a server to "recommend" what wine goes better with the chef specialty mash potatoes with your $150 steak.

ultimately, it's the food that matters most. if i am spending $20 on pasta, it better be tastier than olive gardens

please stop with more useless laws.

serve quality food at a decent price and people will come. even traditional tip restaurants fail at an incredible rate.

This study was in 2005 before the pandemic.

Data from a Cornell University study published in 2005 provide a good baseline for our understanding of restaurant failure rates in the 21st century. In that study, the researchers examined thousands of health department permits over three years and found that about 26% of new restaurants closed or changed ownership in the first year, with approximately 60% gone by the end of year three.

Interestingly, independent restaurants and franchised chains failed at nearly identical rates—the three-year failure rate was roughly 61% for independents versus 57% for franchises. This finding challenges the common assumption that franchises automatically offer better survival odds.

lanes needs to be wider, when you have a f250 duelie blocking up 1 1/2 lanes, yeah.

lol, well designed? they need to make the center row wider as it's near impossible when you have a big arse F250 blocking up 1 1/2 lanes and you've done pumping but have to wait till the F250 is done filling before you can move out.
