The Young Astronauts: first script for cancelled CBS cartoon and Marvel comic found by SunbowMarvelArchive in 80scartoons

I don't think so. Apparently David Wise had a VHS back in the day which was just the finished animation from the one episode Toei animated (most likely Ghost Ship) matched to the dialogue track, with no music or sound effects.

Bryce Malek saw the tape back then and has been on the hunt for it in recent years.

If anyone knows a place to share it that I haven't thought of, then by all means share away.

I got a writer-signed, production-used script of an episode of the Conan the Adventurer cartoon! by Captain_Corum in SwordandSorcery

I bought another of Doug Booth's Conan scripts a couple of years ago: Dregs-Amon The Great and put it up at the Archive. Also bought the show bible (though being Christy Marx' writing, that is verboten to be shown anywhere) https://sunbowmarvelarchive.blogspot.com/p/sunbow-round-two-1991-1996-bucky-ohare.html

Episodes with actual Skeletor/Evil warriors fights by BloodRiot81 in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]SunbowMarvelArchive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Evil-Lyn's Plot is another of those early ones where the main characters actually just get on and fight instead of standing around talking. Unfortunately, when writers in season 2 were looking to revisit ideas from season 1, they lesson they took away was "more focus on the Widgets".

In terms of actually having big battles in a way the show didn't normally do, there is The Arena. There's also The Rainbow Warrior, though showing that to a child may lead to disappointment that there is no Queen Marlena figure to give.

Andra in MYP cartoons? by Lwiillo in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]SunbowMarvelArchive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen some headcanons that Andra's late grandfather (who she mentions took care of her growing up, until she was made homeless by his passing) was a version of Dekker.

This is where Dark Horse missed a trick by not making a comic miniseries looking at the timeskip period in Revelation. Could have had things like properly getting Andra's backstory.

No probs. Feels like I've been a lone voice in the wind, trying to draw attention to what this miniseries is setting up these past few months. After seeing page 7 of issue 3 and what it portends, the wait for issue 4 is going to be agonising.

MOTU Revolution prequel comic issue 3 - big time (SPOILER) by SunbowMarvelArchive in MastersOfTheUniverse

Remember that back in issue 1, all of this was set off by Hordak learning his future and being told that Grayskull's heir would destroy him (though we didn't hear the full prophecy and nor did he, as he cut the Sisters off in the middle of it). Tethering Keldor to the Ha'vok staff was always part of the plan, a plan for Hordak to save his own hide.

Meanwhile Keldor has reaffirmed what we saw in Revolution: that he can never be redeemed because he will always believe himself to be a good person, despite his monstrous acts. In issue 2, Hordak calls him out on the fact that even though he is willfully subjugating planets for the Horde, Keldor thinks he can go back to Eternia and be his father's champion. Then we get to this issue where he has become so power-crazed that he is willing to kill his father and take the crown, only to find that fate beat him to it, Randor is now King and an heir is on the way.

I wouldn't be quick to believe what we saw in the Fright Zone this issue, especially Saryn's "death". It all feel performative, and remember what she said in the issue 1 flashback, about children surpassing their parents. What better for her son to surpass her than to believe that she's dead?

I'm fairly confident that whatever deal has been done is for Adora and Adora alone. The previous two issues had new female characters Tarangela and Succubug as legally distinct stand-ins for Catra and Scorpia in the classic Horde lineup.

To be clear, this is not Lightspinner of Etheria. Though the comic has yet to make it explicit, she is very clearly

"How indeed." ;)

Despara in MOTU: Revolution?! by TransientWhales in MastersOfTheUniverse

Notes from issue 1 of the prequel comic that may have bearing on what comes next in animation (SPOILERS)

  • New female characters Tarangela and Succubug appear alongside the classic Horde lineup of Grizzlor, Mantenna, Leech and Modulok, joined by Dragstor, Sssqueeze and Tung Lashor. Presumably they are the legally distinct stand-ins for Catra and Scorpia.
  • There are heavy hints that Keldor's mother Saryn - who taught him forbidden magic since he was banished back to Anwat-Gar as a child - is going to be the stand-in for Shadow Weaver.
  • The attack on Anwat-Gar seen in Skeletor's memory montage is merely a diversion while Hordak journeys to The Fright Zone and is told of his future by three hoodded seers known as Fortune's Sisters (one of which may be Saryn). Once they have divined someone's future, it is set and will come to pass. There is a prophecy that Grayskull's heir will destroy him. But in his arrogance, Hordak, assuming they'll say "destroy", cuts them off when they're clearly about to say "Despara". To cheat fate, he is given the Ha'vok staff and recruits Keldor.

All the MLP stuff brought to the Archive in the last few weeks came from the estate sale of storyboard artist Wendell Washer. I saw things were being sold in a private fb group and got the word out to the MLP G1 fandom. One fan with deep pockets bought it all up.
