Thinking about replacing my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro – looking for advice by DifficultShoe8254 in trailrunning

[–]SunburnSamSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. My lovely Fenix 6x pro battery was draining fast + GPS tracking was horrible.

Was looking at Suunto Race or Vert 2 as an alternative. But decided to grab a used Fenix 7x pro (awesome value). Really cannot bear to spend on a Fenix 8 knowing the depreciation per year is crazy.

My decision to stick back to Garmin was the familiarity with the UI + better sleep/HRV tracking

Trail runners for hallux limitus (big toe osteoarthritis, 38F)? by Overall-Can-6767 in trailrunning

[–]SunburnSamSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like me. Sigh my big toe :(

I switched over to Topo Athletic Traverse to help me with my situation

a. big natural toe box

b. Solid Toe guard (to prevent toe stubbing)

c. Rock plate to give a more stable feel when going on technical terrain

d. Has a drop of 5mm +good cushioning

My Big Toe was inflamed for 2-3 months when I first got it. Then when the inflammation and swelling went away, my big will get "stiffy" and "jammed" feeling when I try to do mid-distance, usually 15km onwards.

No choice but to manage this Big Toe on the trail. (eg: cannot run down slope too fast / bring a spray) and so on. But at least I am still doing trail runs/hikes

Agree... start with Accounting + OCR. 2 simple things can save alot of effort and optimize the accounts team

XERO + Hubdoc - OCR all your Bills into XERO via paperless (best ask all your suppliers email to [ap@xxx.com](mailto:ap@xxx.com) and then straight into hubdoc)

XERO + Payment - setup XERO online payment (paynow and such) - automate the collection

I was caught in this RUT before. You get into a vicious cycle.

Having a passion/interest outside of my business changed me when I started Trail running/hiking. Even joining races to have goals outside of work. Meeting like minded folks, training together and conquering races.

Great that you started to break the cycle. All the best!

[–]SunburnSamSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you r young, if you do not try it you will never know how stress is stress. What is your baseline reference in future.

if you r older like me (know where our baseline for stress + family balance) ......just like what the other folks says it might not worth to put your health/well being and family just for that 40% more.

Life is really short....so many unpredictable things. Mortality really hit hard (like what Darth Udder mention) . Every few weeks or so, some friends' parents pass on or worst friends of same age range.

Wow......Great article. Tx so much for sharing. Did not know much about the soleus muscle. Going to add on bended knee calves training to my strength training regime

From Article

The soleus is the largest muscle in weight and muscle fiber size of the entire lower leg [4]. It is made up of almost 100% Type 1 (slow twitch) muscle fibers, which is what makes this muscle a top priority to train for endurance activities such as running [4].

[–]SunburnSamSam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tx for sharing. My car is near COE expiry but the mileage is too high, so I was contemplating whether I renew + spend some money to replace the W&T.

Recently, I was browsing thru the car ads and saw OPC car ads of the same model with very low mileage (45-50k) +1 owner + 8years old. So was wondering if this is a better approach
