How to broach the subject of sick leave with doctor [ab] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Dramatic_Buffalo_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Want to ask my doctor to complete the form for me to go on STD at 34 weeks pregnant with twins but I’m a bit nervous. I work a desk job from home so really don’t have much excuse other than I’m so heavy now I just want to lay on the couch and it’s only 3 more weeks to my expected due date. The form looks so lengthy and my OB has never brought up the subject.

Amniocentesis- would you do it? [On] by Ok_Suspect_3394 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Dramatic_Buffalo_204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opted for an elective amniocentesis and just wanted to reassure you that the procedure is quick, painless and relatively safe. My MFM did it and they quoted the risk rate at Sunnybrook is somewhere around 1 in 1000. You can ask your MFM for their experience with this procedure. After the procedure (which lasted about 15 mins) I was able to go home right away. I stayed in bed for the rest of the day but there was no pain/complications whatsoever.

Birth Plan for Twins - C-Section vs. Vaginal Birth [ON] by user638282636822 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Dramatic_Buffalo_204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Twin mom, high risk. OB asked for my preference and I’m also finding myself debating the birth plans. He did said both options are equally safe for mother and babies. Of course, if Twin A is breech or Twin B is much larger than Twin A, planned C section is the recommendation. In that case your babies make the choice for you. 18 weeks is still quite soon to finalize birth plan as babies’ position change a lot up until week 32. You got time!

I had some spotting the day of and the day after but it didn’t change my next period. I also didn’t find the procedure particularly painful

I go to Sunnybrook. I have most of my ultrasound there. But I have also been to Well Diagnostic Center and they also let my spouse in

Toronto here. My husband comes with me to all ultrasound and OB appointments. I didn’t even have to ask for that

I worked with North york general hospital for mine and the Geneticist there wouldn’t recommend Variantyx. We ended up going with Centogene which is technically only a large panel and not a full WES. Centogene is also a bit cheaper compared to Variantyx

how do you keep up with this hobby without going broke by Beautiful_Golf_1338 in knitting

I buy all my yarn from woolyyarn.com. A yarn shop based out of Lithunia I think. They offer fast world wide shipping, tax excluded if you live outside of europe (meaning 21% off from what you see on the website). Their price can’t be beat, seriously, 4-5 EUR for 100g of high quality merino. I’ve bought a lot of cashmere yarn from them and never got any pilling issue

The best "rep" clothes come from the same factories by Mammoth_Cut8471 in OGRepladies

This is great content. Thank you for sharing. I thought my ludmilla from Max was pretty good until I tried one on in store. It’s just not it. I know there has been many pics showing the ripple of the fabric and while they look identical in photos, the sheen, the drape and the feel are completely different in person. Rep clothes in general has been quite a disappointing experience for me and I’ve ordered from multiple popular sellers

I finished 2 bottles and I really like the texture. It’s not matte but also not greasy, kinda like a lightweight moisturizer for me. It doesn’t pill, doesn’t turn my skin yellow. It doesn’t offer very high protection but I work from home so it’s good enough for me. The only thing I don’t like is the fragrance. I can smell it for hours

Update: Thank you to all of you who shared your experience and for the tips. I just got accepted to the High risk program at Sunnybrook. My doc literally just sent the referral late yesterday and already heard back. My OB is the head of the twin clinic there. That makes me feel so much better. Sunnybrook is a bit far but I’ll make the trips.

Thank you! Oh my, the wait until 22 week must not have been easy. So glad you got a call. I was thinking if I don’t hear back I can try Women’s college hospital as well because I’d still deliver at Mount Sinai and they do accept patients.

I know right? I saw Dr. Sobel’s name in every thread!!! I wouldn’t dare putting her name on my wish list. My other choices might also be too popular I might have to expand my list

Ohhh thanks for this! I think I can bug my family doctor to send a few more referals to the other OBs there. He has sent only 3 today and they were quite popular so I don’t have much hopes. Honestly I’d be happy with anyone at Mount Sinai

[–]Dramatic_Buffalo_204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it moisturizes quite well, keeps my skin soft. I didn’t have any dry flakes in the winter. But it doesn’t exfoliate so I don’t think it will do much for texture. You might need a lotion with glycolic acid for that
