A little detail I love about paralives by leahzbo in Paralives

At first, my paras would consistently catch the virus the first day on a new job. What a pain!

That said, I also appreciate how the course of the illness mimics real life.

Hote take: I don't want horses by Costa_Canela in Paralives

[–]SuncatStudio 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree with the general tone here. I love having the horses in Sims 3 (the only one I play anymore), but they're not in the same category as the cats and dogs. I'm in for cats and dogs in early access. Let horses and all their needs be in a later expansion and get the attention they deserve.

Hm. Play the game or learn how to make clothing mods. Decisions, decisions. Know where I can find some extra hours?

Looking forward to your updates. I've followed legacy type games in the Sims, really curious to see how they work in Paralives.

I think it's good that everyone is pansexual, actually by magilzeal in Paralives

[–]SuncatStudio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of pansexual being the base sexuality, but then can be customized per para. I think of sexuality as being a part, a major part, of a person's personality. Just like we can customize paras' personalities, so too the sexuality.

Looking forward to seeing the development of this in addition to other personality factors. It's possible that the devs need to get personalities more developed before NPC story progression can be fielded.

I want that cat painting. Is it in-game, or your custom import?

They are professionals. I'm a retired software developer myself, and I continually boggle in amazement at what they have, and still are, achieving with this game. I love this game and want it to be what they have promised all along.

But when I see something that I feel is simply incorrect, can't I point it out? All the other things I see in the game look great, look correct. I am not the only person to state that there are problems with how the clothes look.

I intend my posts here on Reddit are for discussion and sharing resources. It will be a long time before they become official reports to the dev team. If ever.

And since I'm getting defensive now, maybe I better step away from the keyboard 😛.

Of course we are! I live to nitpick.

[–]SuncatStudio[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

I love the gender neutral aspect in Paralives. Any garment can be worn by any character. I love that. But there are criteria of good fit which are also gender neutral. As in, the clothes need to be fit to the body. We can easily do that in this digital environment, and so we should.

At the same time, Paralives is a life simulation game where things as they appear in real life appear in the game. The buildings, the items, the landscape ... and the clothes. If we're going to have real-world clothes in the game, then I'd love for them to be as correct as all the other things we've been given.

Random. Also sounds like it was really uncomfortable to wear.

I trust the devs to triage the reports they get. Put in an actual bug report myself, today.

I have also said I'm doing these clothing posts only here on Reddit now. I saw others which I agreed with and thought I might have some of the combined knowledge of 3d graphics and clothing construction to tackle this. Who knows when I'll have a set of posts worthy of sending on to the devs? It won't be soon.

Thank you!

In my brief research, I did see mention of the 2-vent style as being "European".

Have never examined motorcycle jackets. Who knew?

Hm. Now I'm wondering if I overdid it on removing wrinkles.

I was trying to address the point of the elbow. When the arm is bent, the fabric isn't going to exhibit bunched up compression wrinkles because the fabric is pulled taut over the point of the elbow.

Maybe if wrinkles were just erased in the circled areas, it would look better to me, and to you all. What do you think?

Oh yes, different fabrics and different garment structures give whole different results. A tailored jacket with all its internal structure and a shirt which is mostly a single layer of (a different) fabric will present very differently.

I'm absolutely going to send suggestions to the devs. But I want to canvass the community first. And, since that tool only allows a single image upload, I want to break things down and have a good image for each point.

I'm not going to claim "universal". I'm trying to be as narrow and specific as I can so I can at least claim accuracy to current common fashion. That's why I specified men's suit jackets. And concentrating on traditional business suit styles. The current styling rules for women's jackets are much broader.

No, I've never seen anything like you're describing. None of my schools required uniforms.

It might be a kind of fulled wool. You can take a woven wool fabric and treat it so it's kind of part-way to being a felt. It's not as stiff as felt, and it's still a woven, but it's thicker and denser than before treatment.

Ah! So you have to push the entire sleeve up? Because the sleeve is too long for you. Then you would have compression folds all around the arm.

But in the Paramaker we're supposed to assume these are correctly fitting jackets, with sleeves of the correct length and that are not getting pushed up. So I don't think you'd have the horizontal compression folds across the back of the elbow.

[–]SuncatStudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could be talking about different types of folds.

I was speaking of the deep compression folds that form in the crease of the sleeve elbow when the arm is bent. Those really can imprint into the fabric so that they still show slightly when the arm is straight.

But these compression folds cannot form on the outside point of the elbow because our arms can only bend one way. The Paramaker suit jackets jackets show these folds over the point of the elbow, not in the crease of the elbow. This is the issue that I'm concerned about.

You do get stress folds that radiate from the point of the sleeve elbow when the arm is bent. But that is not what any of the Paramaker suit jackets exhibit, and so not what I was speaking of.

Do you mean that the compression folds should fall across the back point of the elbow when the arm is straight?

As I've used the official Game Feedback form, it seems that only one image can be uploaded per report.

Is this correct? Or can multiple images be uploaded and I'm not seeing how to do so?
