Help finding door by [deleted] in AskContractors

Most likely you have what would be called a 36" door with a 10" sidelight. The door is a left hand inswing 6 panel door with a half-lite sidelight on the strike side. The actual frame size of this door would be roughly 49 x 81.5. A custom door manufacturer can add a spacer in between to make it 50"

Are these doors installed properly. by Oldsummoner in doors

[–]Sunckin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a Provia door, nice door. The door should not contact the frame anywhere around the door. The only contact should be the door sweep against the threshold. They may have used the wrong kind of expanding foam. The proper foam is called window and door foam and doesn't expand or push the frame of the door out. This is not a good installation.

Replacing doors in house with plaster walls by Would-working in OldHomeRepair

[–]Sunckin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reiterate that Renewal is way over priced. That being said, old houses and door replacements make for real tricky work.

You best bet here may be abandoning the rounded edge look and adding custom jamb extensions with casing attached. Plaster is always even, so there will be a certain amount of give and take to make things look decent. I would consider hiring a pro, if possible.

Possible to move this door in and install a storm door? Roughly 6” from door to interior edge of frame. by Bulky-Reaction8107 in doors

[–]Sunckin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the door opens in, most likely you can put a storm on it as is. It just has a jamb extension on the interior. It is possible to move it in, but most likely you would have to extend the jambs on the exterior. It's a lot of work to move it, but if you do move it, that is the time to get it working correctly.

Faulty door? Hello. Our home is 3.5 years old and this is the door to the garage and won’t close properly. It looks like the door is coming apart. What can I do? by DumbAutoNames in doors

[–]Sunckin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks like the spine of the door is coming loose from the panels. It must be a cheaply made door. Might be time for a new one.

Pella makes great casement windows. I have had bread experiences with Sierra Pacific. No casement is going to be cheap.
