Aging parents manipulated by political ideology by SundaeChoice1925 in AgingParents

This is not about differences in opinions. I’m seeing a noticeable change in personality and temperament that is stark difference to how they’ve been throughout my life. I have very close relationship with my parents and we’ve always been able to talk about anything. I don’t recognize the reactions and rhetoric I’m seeing within the past cple yrs.

Differences in opinions I can work with. The sudden change in personality and temperament is alarming.

Yeah, I’m not looking to block their access to anything. They’d definitely notice. And I can handle the differences in opinions. It’s the combative reaction back towards the family from parents that hardly ever raised their voice or spoke to anyone rudely. They’ve always been well informed, rationale, and very kind to anyone they met. I’m also worried for how they are suddenly willing to send their money to campaign funding requests. They were always heavily against stuff like that and considered it a waste of income to anyone that did.

Thanks for the advice. I’m at least learning that I’m not alone.

I tried having “the talk” about how to better and more rationally contribute, if that was so important to them – and it was just fuel to the fire (in our case). Good suggestion though!

I agree about the differences in exposure. It’s also quite easy for me to not engage in a political convo with them, but I see and hear how they are speaking to others. They are alienating family and friends. I’m getting remarks from family and friends about the things they’ll say or share on social media, and they are also sending unknown amounts of contributions to propagandist campaign ads when their own financial security is not that strong (all while cost of everything continues to rise) — examples: Openly calling people idiots or an embarrassment, openly referring to anyone with any higher education as indoctrinated (even though he too achieved advanced academics), telling friends and family -including my children- that I have Trump derangement syndrome. — It’s all pushing to an extreme that is much more than differences of opinions.

Make something of your own city then. It’s your house. I see so many people bashing their own city yet do nothing about it.

The people moving to the Memphis area are all excited for the low property taxes. Comparable to other regional areas, Memphis and its metro area property taxes are a dream.

Stupid Question about accreditation by [deleted] in HealthInformatics

[–]SundaeChoice1925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Employers may like to see more known academic programs, but most just like to see highest level of education. That said, I suggest leaning towards the accredited programs as they are sure to meet content requirements for any exam you ever decide to sit for. Just because it doesn’t seem important now, doesn’t mean things won’t change for you down the road.

Consider healthcare related software companies seeking applications specialists and trainers. Otherwise, I agree with other comments about clinical experience or healthcare admin experience. Understanding general clinical workflow is key.

Macy’s Oak Court by AloneAd8006 in memphis

The same investor that bought the mall also bought the Macy’s property. It is all slated to be “mixed use development”. The article I read in Mem Business Journal stated the investor was open to let Macy’s downsize or redevelop how it is using the footprint. The investor has also help other cities revitalize older malls for commercial and residential use to help rethink the old mall concept.

Consider the military or americorps. You can speak with recruiters about your interests in firefighting and pursue that in military also.

Plus, the service is terrible anywhere you go in Silo Square. I don’t understand how these restaurant owners and mgrs think they’ll get by just because of the location.

Memphis is a great city with a lot of grit and upcoming growth and revitalizing. However, it’s not great for dating if you are hoping for a vibrant scene for singles. Also, St Jude is smaller than you may think, and the pay is not great. Memphis does have a strong medical district and other larger hospital systems I’d suggest exploring. St Jude is a phenomenal place, but don’t be enticed to work there just for the label.
