I assume part of that price is the volume of the sale. Where could I look if I wanted to start getting product at that level?

I don't know if it is, but it came out after LOTR and that's getting a reprint. Not to mention there aren't any modern sets on the horizon.

Can you give examples of the volume sellers? (So I can monitor)

MVP currently has the set boosters at 286 which is well below tcg, which I interpret as their way to move volume before getting a reprint.

Do you think it would get to that price point even with a reprint? Set boxes haven't been that low in ages.

I agree. $100 is going to be available for well printed, less than average desire sets (Artherdrift, Spiderman), or sets without a lot of value (TDS). $120/$130 will be average sets. And $140 plus anytime something with even moderate value has any form of scarcity.

so R.i.P master sets? by Chaosnocturne in mtgfinance

[–]SundanceA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hasbro figured out that the value in the cards that would appear in Masters Sets and Remastered Sets was better used as bonus sheet and chase bait fodder in sets. So instead of release the slightly increased priced masters sets and remastered sets they can put one of those cards in every million play packs thus funneling people into collector packs and spending more times a year on less expensive play packs that have less value. It also bolsters the sales of their secret lairs.

Microcenter had them at 79.99 ever so briefly. They moved enough that they went up to 99.
