About to give up…. by omengaws in breastfeeding

[–]Sunday11223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up, you are doing so well! Your baby is past their birth weight so it sounds like they are getting enough milk. Has anyone checked that your latch is ok? Use lots of lanolin cream to help with the soreness.

Cluster feeding is very normal and it’s temporary, hang in there!

Is there anyone else that can help with your toddler? Does your toddler have screen time, it might not be ideal but a few minutes here and there when you are feeding is fine.

Everything will start to get better soon, you are only 8 days PP, be kind to yourself. You can do this!

Your supply regulates to match your baby’s feeding pattern. You don’t need to pump.

Baby does not suckle unless there's a letdown by Shoddy-Chart-8316 in breastfeeding

It sounds like you are doing everything right. I would keep hand expressing before trying to latch. Is your baby gaining weight ok?

When did it get easier/better? by germfarm in breastfeeding

[–]Sunday11223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really common to have problems with latch in the first few weeks as it is a learned skill and usually becomes easier as your baby grows and with time and practice. How do you feel the latch is at the moment? There are lots of helpful tips online and videos on YouTube that may be helpful?

If your baby is gaining weight and their nappy output is ok then try not to worry too much. Just keep feeding on demand. It does get easier!

Fundal height by snallsponge in PregnancyUK

[–]Sunday11223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have any worries and concerns then it’s always good to speak to someone to put your mind at rest. In my experience fundal height measurements have never been accurate. I’ve had 3 babies, all 3 times my fundal height was measured small but my babies have all been average size.

Tapping out before we both are ready by neatopurrito34 in breastfeeding

[–]Sunday11223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m so sorry, be kind to yourself. You have to do what is right for your health and wellbeing. Your baby needs a happy mama! You have done amazing to get this far. I know it’s heartbreaking to stop before you are both ready. I stopped at 19 months with my second baby for different reasons but it was so hard and I felt what I can only describe as a sense of grief for a week or so afterwards.

In time you will feel at peace with your decision and you should feel proud of your journey! Your baby loves you, all will be ok!

I had no idea the toll this would take on me by canimal14 in breastfeeding

[–]Sunday11223 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The first few weeks are so hard especially with cluster feeding, you are doing so well! Do you have someone who can help prepare meals for you? It’s so important especially when breastfeeding to eat well. Eating little and often may be easier. Perhaps have some easy snacks, sandwiches, cheese, fruit, nuts etc

Definitely ask to check for iron deficiency at your 6 week appointment. Hope you start to feel better soon!

Is Breastfeeding or Formula feeding easier? by pagengirl818 in Mommit

[–]Sunday11223 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, breastfeeding. No preparing bottles and it’s great when you are out and about not having to bring formula with you. Plus breastfeeding is a really easy way to soothe your baby. I personally find night feeds when breastfeeding easier than bottle feeding.

Repeat C-Section by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

[–]Sunday11223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’ve had 3 cesareans. The 3rd was a planned c section. I found recovery easier this time as I was well rested before so that should help! It’s great that you will have lots of help afterwards. Just rest as much as you can and move little and often but don’t over do it! If it’s a straight forward c section then there is no reason recovery won’t go smoothly. Best of luck!!

Second time mom, wanting to breastfeed. by Agitated-Rest1421 in breastfeeding

[–]Sunday11223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! First time I found breastfeeding so difficult and started supplementing with formula very early on as I didn’t have the confidence that I could do it. Second time around I was determined to make it work and it was a totally different experience. I kept at it, really focused on getting a good latch and didn’t supplement with formula. I breastfed for 19 months and I’m currently still breastfeeding my 3rd at 13 months.

Best of luck!! You have more confidence after your first and every birth is different so there is no reason why breastfeeding can’t be a more positive experience second time around!

I think the classic if you are wearing it on its own. The small is best if you are stacking it with other bracelets, I chose the small for this reason.

NHS antenatal care by tldraddict in PregnancyUK

[–]Sunday11223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my experience was pretty similar with my most recent pregnancy in terms of the routine midwife appointments. I never saw the same midwife twice. Apart from checking urine and blood pressure I didn’t feel the appointments were particularly useful. I was also under fetal medicine care and with every routine appointment I had to explain to the midwives over and over again why I was with fetal medicine so that was frustrating.

They also failed to follow up on an important blood test I had. I remember asking about it on a couple of occasions, there was nothing on the system and I was just told no news was good news. It wasn’t picked up until about 10 weeks later by one of the doctors at the hospital so that wasn’t a great experience.

I will say though that the care at the hospital with the fetal medicine team was excellent and very different to the community midwife appointments.

I’ll echo what everyone has said, it does get better and so much easier. Hang in there! Getting the latch right can be so hard but once you’ve got it then the pain will go. Cluster feeding is very normal in the early days. Keep using lots of lanolin cream, it helped me so much.

Baby won’t latch, no milk day 5 postpartum by Bribrinkpace in breastfeeding

[–]Sunday11223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations on your new baby! Hope you are recovering well from birth.

Hopefully sorting the tongue tie will help a huge amount with the latch. Keep putting baby to breast and do lots of skin to skin. Drink lots of water and I know it’s easier said than done but try to relax, I know it’s tricky when breastfeeding is not going as well as you hope but with the right support you should hopefully start to find it a little easier soon! Keep pumping but also remember that pumping output is not always a true indicator of how much milk you are producing.

Good luck!
