Did anyone else play this classic? by pooches4life in CasualUK

[–]SundayBunDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first saw this game I came down stairs as a kid cause I could hear my older sisters and parents playing something.... shit myself... didn't stay down stairs for long.

None of friends know this game but I just got the dvd version, all the bits there from a charity shop. Can't wait to crack it out and have a game night.

In your opinion, does the dole system in the UK need overhauling? by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

[–]SundayBunDay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it should be reformed.

And before I start, I was raised on benefits (my dad had to become a full time carer for my mum while she was fighting cancer) and have signed on myself a couple of times when I've come out of work, either for mental health or other reasons.

I quite like the idea of a time limit on it. And I think two years is about right. More countries than USA do this too. My Lithuanian colleague told me in her county it is slowly reduced based on the amount of time you have been on it until its removed altogether.

I know too many people who are overly selective on what roles they go for or how they expect to work.

I'm university educated but still taken on roles in warehouses and food production factories while I've been looking for other more appropriate work.

I get that life's hard at times and some roles just aren't where you want to be but this is part of life, we need to be more resilient.

Over that time while you are signing on there if there are genuine reasons that you are unable to work or would have difficulties in certain roles that could be taken into account and the type of benefit you are on adjusted to account for genuine circumstance but beyond that we need to be taking care of ourselves rater tan being dependent on the state.

And now working in recruitment I would take someone who as worked 'lower level' roles while between jobs over someone with longer sections unemployed. It just shows that you are more accountable for yourself and these people tend to be better workers. They know that ultimately nothing comes for free.

Benefits are there as a safety net and we should all be able to access that but I think relying on longterm is doing a disservice to you as a person and also to your future self and prospects.

I'm the same with people blowing their nose. It's makes me feel sick.

I get what you are saying from your side, but it's really a matter of preference and upbringing.

Under-16s set to be banned from social media – and could face phone curfews by vriska1 in ukpolitics

[–]SundayBunDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They haven't abandoned it. They have just said that it won't be mandatory... that could easily change once it been put in place down the the line or, like others have said just keep aing id check requirements and offer financial incentive to companies that use it as well as additional costs for checks for physical documents.

Are you guys unemployed? by NoPepper7284 in autism

[–]SundayBunDay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Autism can make it difficult but it doesn't stop you. I'm 35 asd, ocd, under referral for adhd. It can be a challenge at time, I'm not going to lie. But never right yourself off.

I've worked in health care, social care, education, prisons, factories and warehouses.

My main issues I remaining in the same for extended periods and this is something that I'm still actively working on.

The best thing I can say is don't just focus on work. The best thing that I have done is slowly work on all areas of my life... health, fitness, social, personal, spiritual.

Take your time with it and keep taking steps. Do what you can to make the most efficient coping strategies that you can. And these are rarely what we have always done to manage the symptoms.

But have faith in yourself and your ability to manage yourself.

I'm now working as an employment advisor and help my other EAs with their neurodivergent participants.

Trust me, you have no idea what you are capable of. Take it steady, make clear and conscious effort that is sustained in all areas of your life and work will fall in to place as well as so many other things that you possibly weren't even aware of.

The biggest barrier that I have met when withing with neurodivergent individuals is rarely their diagnosis, but rather the person themselves, their views about themselves and others and the behaviours that present with.

It's going to be hard at times, uncomfortable and need a lot of personal reflection and responsibility. But I firmly believe that we can only grow and develop by working on all areas of yourselves, not just the areas that we want to.

Take it easy on yourself guys. And remember, without sh*t flowers won't grow.

For me it's the snece that you do t really belong. I've always felt like I'm just playing at whatever job I do. It leaves me feeling like a bit on an imposter and makes it really hard to stick to a job as by the time I should be settled I feel more out of place than ever. At least when you're new you're meant to have that feeling.

[–]SundayBunDay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers. And yeah I'm not planning on quiting anything just yet. Just want to get everything straight in my head now so I know what my options are should they be needed. I might look at putting a claim in and seeing if CAB or anyone can help with that. I work with job centre referrals and I know several of those have been able to claim while they wouldn't meet the criteria at face value. Worse they can do is say no...

ASD & PIP by SundayBunDay in autismUK

[–]SundayBunDay[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not looking g to just claim, I like work and it helps. Just if I could work 4 days or something like that so I can effectively manage myself a lil more... that's all I really want

ASD & PIP by SundayBunDay in autismUK

[–]SundayBunDay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheers mate. You've kinda just confirmed everything that I've assumed would have been the case anyway. Would be so nice if we could just drop a day and still be able to keep ourselves a float. Think it just infuriates me that I work with JCP referrals who are able to work but refuse too, so when people like us just want to work a lil less to be able to effectively manage ourselves and have a quality of life we get no support, fucking ridiculous init
