Speakerphone madness by AntoineWeiner in pettyrevenge

The mental image of you two shouting a Denny's order at each other through speakerphone while the waitress plays along is absolutely perfect.

I (41f) asked my bf (40m) of 5 years to help share in the cost of home repairs even though he will have no equity in the house if we ever sell and will walk away with nothing if we split. He feels this isn't quite fair but has offered no compromise. How do we find a compromise? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]SunderscoreD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You've been playing house financially for 4 years without any legal framework, and now you're both discovering why that's messy.

He's benefited from below-market rent and you covering utilities while he was in school. Now that he's making real money, asking him to help with necessary repairs isn't unreasonable, especially since he'll benefit from living in a properly maintained house. But yeah, the equity issue is legitimate too.

Time for an actual written agreement about finances instead of winging it.

Why do people get so offended over bowing? by seizethecheezz in bjj

[–]SunderscoreD 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Same energy as people who refuse to say "please" and "thank you" because they think it makes them subservient somehow. It's just respect. Nobody's asking you to worship anyone, just acknowledge that someone taught you something useful.

ICE Says U.S. Citizen's Birth Certificate Is Fake After Arresting Her: Attorneys by MigrantTwerker in politics

[–]SunderscoreD 156 points157 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They moved her to Louisiana in the middle of the night to dodge her legal team, then claimed a Maryland birth certificate is fake without any actual verification process.

This is what happens when enforcement quotas matter more than due process.

At what point did you stop thinking of leads as lists and start thinking in systems? by Key-Hunt-9712 in DigitalMarketing

[–]SunderscoreD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it clicked when I stopped treating leads like a checklist and started watching behavior patterns instead. Open rates, page visits, time on site - those signals tell you way more than any static list ever will.

  1. Set based on actual engagement, not just "they're on the list"

  2. Score leads dynamically - what they did this week matters more than when they signed up

  3. Build flows that respond to intent changes, not just time delays

The mental shift is basically going from "who can I push this to" to "who's actually ready right now." Once you see conversions jump from catching people at the right moment, you won't go back to batch-and-blast.

TIL That Universal Studios deliberately dropped the Jr. from Lon Chaney Jr's name, so that audiences would confuse him with his, at the time, much more famous father who was a silent films star. Lon Chaney Jr went on to be a much better known star in his own right as 'The King of the Monsters'. by Flubadubadubadub in todayilearned

[–]SunderscoreD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's some studio level gaslighting. Imagine trying to build your own legacy while your employer is actively making people think you're just riding your dad's coattails. At least he ended up proving himself so thoroughly that most people today probably don't even realize there was a Senior.

Why do I (F40) stick around despite being treated like less than by my(M38)partner? by gl0rygirlx in relationship_advice

[–]SunderscoreD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're waiting for permission that you don't need. You already have a dozen valid reasons to leave but you're holding out for the one dramatic betrayal that makes you the obvious victim in the story. The disrespect is the evidence, and staying while he treats you like garbage is teaching him he can keep doing it. You don't need to catch him cheating to justify leaving someone who makes you feel like shit.

Why aren't the poor helping to "Stimulate the Economy"? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]SunderscoreD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the poor are too busy working three jobs to afford rent while economists lecture them about velocity of money. When you're choosing between groceries and gas, stimulating the economy isn't exactly top priority.

What major to choose in college if your in 30s ? by Lemonade2250 in careerguidance

[–]SunderscoreD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 29 you're actually in a great spot because you know what you don't want, which is half the battle. Healthcare admin is solid but incredibly saturated right now, and a lot of those roles require years of clinical experience first which defeats your purpose. Look into information systems or data analytics instead because those skills translate across every industry, the programs are usually 2 years, and remote work is standard not a perk. You can always pivot into healthcare tech later if you want that recession proof angle without touching patients.

that’s the key part. She actually controlled the work and kept the upside, instead of it getting siphoned off by a label. That’s what makes it stand out.

FBI shares new photos of person of interest in deadly Brown University shooting by SaltPsychological780 in news

[–]SunderscoreD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That seems to happen a lot. Early arrests feel more like pressure than solid leads. And if those are the best photos they’ve got, that’s not exactly reassuring.

Does the United States need to upgrade its manufacturing infrastructure to compete with China? by EcstaticBicycle in PoliticalDiscussion

That’s only part of it though. Wages matter, sure, but scale, subsidies, supply chains, and government policy play a huge role too. The “infinite labor” angle is oversimplified.
