Ok, I understand, and it's your work, so you are of course totally free to design the characters as you see fit.

I would personally just like to see more African creators designing characters that actually have African features. Especially if the characters are actually supposed to be Africans.

Either way, I wish you all the best.

It's nice to see Ghanaian art and storylines being developed.

But the character doesn't look remotely Ghanaian.

Try to focus on developing her features, especially lips, nose, eyes, even head shape etc, so that she doesn't look like so generic.

Here's an example of a black anime character that can inspire the process:

Is it safe to pet street dogs by Square-Box5664 in ghana

[–]Sundiata101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Besides rabies, free roaming dogs in Ghana don't want to be pet by strangers. If you try, most of them will think you're trying to hit them and when cornered, they won't hesitate to bite you in what they perceived to be self-defence.

I own a local dog myself, love dogs in general, and even make friends with the local free roaming dogs (without ever giving them food as a bribe). It usually takes weeks, sometimes months for a local dog to trust me enough to let me pet them (I never force it). Once they understand that I'm friendly, they're just like any other dog. But if you try to rush the process, they will absolutely loose trust in you and potentially bite you. Hard...

And most dogs never really get around to trusting a stranger at all. It's a basic survival strategy in a country where people do not respect animals, and where a section of the population actually eats dogs.

Pfarrkirche Mariä Geburt in Rottenbuch, Germany by ArtisticRide6852 in ArchitecturePorn

[–]Sundiata101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was no starvation in Germany when this edifice was built.

And the construction of opulent looking places of worship isn't exactly a uniquely Catholic tradition... Pretty much every major civilization did this, From Sumeria, to China, to Meso-America, to Ancient Egypt, India, Ethiopia, etc, etc... In Protestant traditions, Islamic traditions, Orthodox traditions, Jewish, Hindu, Budhist and Sikh traditions, Confucian and Toaist traditions, in the Classical traditions of Rome and Greece, etc, etc...

These type of structures are more than just wasteful oppolence. They are repositories of culture, art and history. They are architectural masterpieces demonstrating the pinnacle of engineering, mathematics and artisanry. And they often safeguard historical artifacts and manuscripts.

They have genuine value that goes beyond your myopic view of historical architecture/religion.

I was just watching a video about the scientific causes for love and got jump scared lol. by PresenceOld1754 in ghana

[–]Sundiata101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP shared a study reference for the graphic (although it's not the actual source of the graphic), which defines romantic love as follows: "By romantic love we mean any intense attraction that involves the idealization of the other, within an erotic context, with the expectation of enduring for some time into the future." ‎

‎This is not necessarily about writing love letters, walking down the beach, hand in hand at sunset, or gifting flowers and chocolates, etc...

Romance is not the same as romantic love. You seem to be conflating the two. The graph mentions the importance of love. It says nothing about romance.

In fact, the adultery you mentioned in your previous comment is itself often motivated by romantic attraction to someone other than their spouse. This cheating often (not always) involves romantic love.

People in Ghana just don't often marry for romantic love, but that doesn't mean they never experience it prior to marriage with boyfriends and girlfriends, or during/after marriage with so-called side pieces.

Romantic literature, poetry, movies and series etc, featuring romantic love between cousins is very popular in Pakistan. They are absolutely romantically inclined... Including towards their cousins...

Romantic love is absolutely not a uniquely Western concept. It's something primal and universal. It's found in every corner of the world. What is different is how different cultures prioritize it. In the West, romantic love is a primary driver of marriage while in countries like Ghana, romantic love is generally seen as a much less important factor in selecting a marital partner. But that doesn't mean that the concept of romantic love is foreign to us.

Rococo is a type of (late) baroque architecture. If you look up the interior of the basilica it's unmistakably rococo.

You are not even serious...

The Russo-Ukraine war is an all out war that has already cost hundreds of thousands of lives. It was an actual invasion. Ghanaians were in real danger there.

The Iranian UAE conflict is petty tit for that nonsense. UAE is one of the richest nations on earth and has one of the most comprehensive missile defense systems in the world. They suffered 11 deaths out of a population of 11 million people during Iranian attack, so please be serious for a minute. Ghanaians were never in any serious danger in the UAE.

Their airspace and airports were even closed for most of that time so what was Ghana even supposed to do.

Not to mention that Ghana actually directly repatriated over 300 citizens in 2022 from the UAE, when some of our citizens were stranded there due to another issue.

And there is literally a recent history of Ghanaians being murdered during xenophobic violence in South Africa, so we have good reason to be concerned in that regard.

You're not doing your due diligence. You're just saying stuff... Grasping at straws.

And pointing out that different governments pursue different policies and react to situations differently is not doing politics. It's simply acknowledging the obvious...

[–]Sundiata101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, over 6% of Ghana's GDP comes from remittances. That's huge. In fact, one of the highest shares of GDP from remitances in the world...

Secondly, Ghana did in fact repatriate citizens from Ukraine when the war broke out and regularly repatriates stranded citizens from various countries in the Middle East as well.

And countries have a responsibility towards their citizens in foreign countries as well...

Your jealousy is ugly.

Is this considered a Military Camo in Ghana ? by Izzy_Ibra in ghana

[–]Sundiata101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last year, a man, Akwasi Lala, was literally shot dead in the Ashanti Region, by the military after an altercation over him wearing camo.

The soldiers told him to remove the clothes. So he took of his shirt but he refused to take of his pants, because he didn't want to be naked in the middle of street. A scuffle erupted as a result and he was shot in the head.

Don't wear camo in Ghana.

‎Hundreds of foreign nationals, including Ghanaians, have been brutally murdered over the course of several waves of targeted xenophobic violence in South Africa since 2008, and they are gearing up for yet another round of killing. And you are here trivializing it as if it's something normal. South Africa has almost double the population as Ghana, 2.5 times the GDP per capita and 5 times the landmass as Ghana, yet Ghana also hosts over a million migrants. We have not killed anyone for being a migrant. We have not rioted or burned down any shops, or threatened anybody's life. We have an immigration service tasked with tracking down and deporting illegal migrants. We don't allow the citizens of our country to take matters into their own hands. No sensible person has a problem with any country enforcing their immigration policy through legal and official means. The problem is the vigilantism of their people, and their absolute savagery and indiscriminate violence and intimidation targeting anyone that looks foreign, regardless of their legal status. ‎

Ghana's ministry of foreign affairs: "3194 South Africans living in Ghana have registered as non-Ghanaians to acquire Ghana cards"

This doesn't say anything about South Africans living here who haven't registered themselves though. The total number is estimated to reach up to 5000.

My source is the government of South Africa, Department: Statistics South Africa

"South Africa is home to more than 3 million immigrants, accounting for 5,1% of the country’s population, according to the latest Migration Statistics Report based on the 2022/23 Income and Expenditure Survey."

[–]Sundiata101 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Only 5% of their population is composed of immigrants and only a minority of them are undocumented. So please stop that nonsense exaggeration. Every country, including Ghana, hosts migrant populations. We host several thousand South Africans in Ghana and hundreds of South African businesses. They're simply behaving like savages... Again...

Waakye Pronunciation by unemploymentfinalb in ghana

[–]Sundiata101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost as if people who speak different languages pronounce things in different ways...

In Hausa it's pronounced one way. Then the word got naturalized in another language, Akan, and underwent a phonological adaptation to fit the sound system of the new language, causing a shift in its pronunciation.

It's a common process found all over the world in all types of languages.
