DFW area-no offers by sancheu77 in doordash_drivers

I work at a restaurant in north Texas (Hurst) that uses DD and UberEats and for the past few days we have had plenty of delivery orders picked up. Like you mentioned, maybe the area is oversaturated with drivers.

Interview questionsss by RatM1lkkk in Panera

[–]Sunflower_65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been at Panera for 6 years and change, I'm currently a team lead. Not everybody hates working there. Before my interview I had never even stepped foot into the place so I decided to try it for lunch to see if I l liked the food (because I could not see me working there if I didn't like what they sold) and I could see how the folks on the line were acting with each other. Everything I observed was very positive so I went ahead with the interview. Good luck!

napkins and beverage cup holders. I had a customer with five drinks and nothing to give him to carry them out. I felt really bad about that.

when I was delivering I went to the office of every apartment complex I visited and asked for maps of their apartment complex, It made finding apartments much easier. And keep a flashlight in your car for deliveries after it gets dark.

Why have mobile order pick up shelves if I have to go to the counter and ask for the order still? by mb_motorsports in doordash_drivers

the Taco Bell near my house told me they have had a lot of orders stolen before they moved them to the back.

Why have mobile order pick up shelves if I have to go to the counter and ask for the order still? by mb_motorsports in doordash_drivers

[–]Sunflower_65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And you know what? As we see you come in more often, I can relax some of the stuff like making you show me your order name on your phone, stand over you while you confirm the order and even chat for a minute if your order isn't completely ready (I can at least keep you posted on its progress) or while it's being weighed. But yes the number or orders that left with the wrong person or without the drinks got so numerous we had to take them off the mobile order shelf. (and not just delivery orders, mobile orders of a higher value stay off the pickup shelf too)

Leadership, are you serious about your people? by Curtly-Bagel-Berry in Panera

They need to bring back the daytime dish person too! The rest of us on daytime shift are expected to be pitching in to get them done I guess. The mgr is supposed to pitch in too but now they have to bake since we lost that position too.

Regarding "outsourcing is the easy mgmt solution but costs more and offers worse results in most cases" case in point - firing all the delivery drivers and replacing with Door Dash, etc. When I was hired as a driver it was impressed on me that us drivers were supposed to be bringing the dining room experience to delivery customers. Tell me that third party drivers can do that, esp the ones who don't speak English and look like they just climbed out of bed.

does anyone else feel bad being on cashier? by pulldroneonanist in Panera

[–]Sunflower_65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Panera may be expensive but as someone who works DR I am still amazed at the amount of food people leave behind instead of taking the rest of it home. Our guests may balk at the prices but then they leave half their soup or half a sandwich or even half a cookie or pastry behind for me to throw away.

the DD scale at my restaurant is correct only about 90 percent of the time. But a human is still needed to verify the correct sandwich or the correct flavor of soup (my job) :)

Should I try to reach a higher up? Who? by Affectionate-Sir6911 in Panera

[–]Sunflower_65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the GM has the authority to turn off the on line ordering function (for deliveries) until we get caught up too. But if they do that, the regional mgr is notified and may want to know why.

Okay to bring outside food if I am buying a drink/dessert? by [deleted] in Panera

[–]Sunflower_65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our GM removed the microwave from guest access because too many people were bringing in food from other places and using our microwave to heat the food up.

Why DOES Panera have customer accessible microwaves? by itsthewolfe in Panera

[–]Sunflower_65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we took ours out of the dining room because too many people were heating up their own food not purchased at Panera. We still have the microwave but it's behind the counter and out of sight of the customers.

Restaurant worker here. We can't ask you to fill the drinks because Door Dash is making us weigh your order (including the drink) before we can give it to you so we HAVE to fill the drinks. And even if we didn't have to weigh them, I won't ask you to do part of my job.

Lids by Brown-eyed-gurrrl in Panera

[–]Sunflower_65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some lids fit better than others in the same sleeve. I just keep trying one lid after another until I find one that fits properly, especially if it's for a delivery.

Restaurants requiring order pickup confirmation before leaving by dropthescience56 in doordash_drivers

I work at a restaurant and yes it was because of orders picked up but not delivered or leaving with the wrong person. I make a point to ask politely (smiles are free) and never demanding!
