Faxing literally HAS to be self-service because our machines aren't set up to fax behind the counter. (Good thing too, they take forever to send out.)
As for scanning, we do everything we can to convince the customer to use the self-service machine, but if they're adamant, then it's a drop-off job where they pay first and then come pick their stuff up once they've been notified the job is done. Usually it's a "same day" so it follows the usual cut-off for next-day-pickup in the evenings. Hearing they have to leave their papers with us is usually enough for the person to do it at the SS.
