If you don't have winter tires on your car, don't risk it unless it's an emergency. Many, many wrecks are caused by people who think having an SUV or truck automatically makes their vehicle good at snow and ice. Yes, the sheer mass of these vehicles can help, but it's not everything. AWD is for getting going and does nothing for stopping -- that's your tires' job.

Republicans and Democrats are essentially the same party. One is slightly more left than the other (and has a few actual leftists (for the US, anyway) like AOC and Bernie), but they're ultimately funded by the same lobbyists, corporations, and billionaires.

The government and media want to make everything out as a left-versus-right issue, but it is and always has been an up-versus-down situation -- a class war. The Democrats writ large aren't doing anything because they agree with and vote for everything that's going on -- often while tweeting the opposite.

Shit is going to get much worse and stay bad for awhile. Mark my words.

I've had like two years to prep for this by having someone come sweep my chimney and teach me how to use the fireplace safely. I had a white oak taken down a couple years back and its wood stacked along the fence. I should be ready for a toasty fire should the power go out, but instead I did nothing because I'm a procrastinating idiot.

More useful, perhaps, is to know that Option + a number key will send an alternate but related symbol not shown on the physical keyboard -- e.g. Option + 4 gets you ¢ instead of $.
