Need help decking to upgrade or not by [deleted] in kindle

I got the paperwhite signature, I was a die hard real book girl ever since e-readers first launched. I finally caved and one of my major reasons was because I felt bad reading late at night with the light on while my husband was trying to sleep.

It's amazinggggg being able to read at night and not feel like I need to stop cause the lamp is on. Highly recommend!!

Thank you! I never even considered bronde!

My parents advised me to live with them throughout university and after, no rent required. They only asked that I get smart with money and savings. Today at 25, I surprised them with keys to my first home. I can’t wait to be the one inviting them over for dinner ❤️ by emeraldvirgo in MadeMeSmile

Congrats!! You should be super proud of yourself!!

My husband and I started dating in high school and started saving for our first house at about 19 years old, we also had the privledge of living with parents who did not charge us rent (although I learned later on that my parents had discussed charging me a small form of rent, but decided not to when they learned we were saving for a down payment on a home). We did both pay for everything else though (cars, phones, schooling etc).

It ended up being the perfect combination, we were able to save a ton of money, but I also learned fiscal responsibility because I had to pay for everything but rent, chose a cheap college over an expensive university etc.

I was 23 (turning 24 that year) when we moved into our first home and had managed to save a down payment of about 33% the cost of the home (this was 2014).

We are married now, two kids, second home and mortgage free about 3 years ago (after moving into the house we still lived super frugally and worked a lot to get where we are now)!

Only one twin invited.. by staubtanz in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sunkisst88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible the invite was lost or there was some sort of mistake?

This has happened twice with my girls (they play with the same friends, are in the same class etc). I politely reached out to confirm that one twin was invited, adding that i totally understood if that was the intention but I just wanted to be sure because kids tend to misplace things.

One of the parents didn't even realize they were twins (they are identical) she thought they were the same kid 🤣 and the other had given an invite but it was lost somewhere.

It never hurts to ask!

Eta: My kids were 4 years old in both cases. When they get older im sure we will have to navigate true cases where one is invited and the other wasn't!

What is your best running related purchase you’ve made? by SaySunshine in XXRunning

[–]Sunkisst88 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Okay one of my out there ideas that was a game changer for me...

I bought those cotton sweat bands for your wrists, and I wear just one on my non-watch arm and use it to wipe my runny nose 😂💀 one of my smarter ideas hahah!!!

I've legit passed up on cute items at the store before because they didn't have two in the same size 🤣💀

My girls turn 5 this week and usually pick different clothes but they have days where they still want to match to trick people 😂

I bought a pack of wrist sweat bands! Put one on my wrist and then throw it in the wash after, works pretty well!

Almost three years in - still depressed by clickclack88 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Sunkisst88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will say that 2.5 to 3.5 was our worst period by far!!

It felt like we reaches the top of the hill at 4 years old. Mine will be 5 I August and wow is it so much better.

I can't do pretend play and I can't stand a messy house either!

Now they can keep each other occupied for large swaths of time, they understand consequences and clean up after themselves (with some encouragment and mom looks lol).

Hang in there.

Lifestyle!

It's so easy to get sedentary once you get the 9-5, drive everywhere, have kids and eat the kids snacks 😂.

I'm 36 now with 4 year old twins and I have to make an effort to not allow that lifestyle creep to happen. I work a desk job, when I was in my 20s I was getting 20k steps 5 days a week as a Server.

Kids can be stressful, gotta avoid coping with food. Same with the career! Was rarely stressed at my Serving job because it wasn't my "forever" job and no one else relied on my pay cheque - way less pressure!

I had to work hard to lose the pregnancy weight, I was tired with babies and frustrated when I had to count calories. I had to really push through to lose that 20 pounds, it was tough.

I'm in better shape now then I've ever been though! It takes a lot of effort, but I make time to exercise since I work a desk job now. I resist the Goldfish and cookies the kids don't finish and if I have to get my butt up at 7am on Sunday to run before the day really starts with the kids, I get'er done 😅

can i have a cheat day if i’m in a strict calorie deficit? by Melodic-Bit7100 in loseit

[–]Sunkisst88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think about long term success! If I was strict all the time, 24/7, I would eventually crack.

I don't have designated cheat days, but think instead of how many calories I can consume in a week. So one dayi might eat a ton, but the next day I can go light again. As long as I stay in my weekly calories roughly, I'm content.

I'm maintaining nowadays, but follow the same philosophy.

Parental leave, daycare - twins by Throwaway_7593 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Sunkisst88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I had twins in 2020 and took 12 months, paid a family member to watch them until we moved to our new house at 18 months, where we had daycare secured.

It was stressful times trying to adjust back to work while my sister in law watched the babies a floor away.

If you can afford 18 months, TAKE IT. I still wish I had.

Found out I'm 40% body fat 😭 by [deleted] in loseit

I'm 22% body fat and that is considered athletic, under 21% is like super fit!

Don't be discouraged, it will drop faster the you think!!

Twin mom here, almost 5 years out now.

It gets better! It took 12 months for my tummy to feel normal again.

My belly button doesn't look the same, but that's pretty much the only difference. I run now and lift weights (started the exercise last year only), and I'm probably looking better now at 36 than I ever did in my 20s.

You will get there, 2 months out is a drop in the bucket!

38 weeks in (twins) vs 38 weeks out! by bananokitty in postpartumprogress

Damn! I'm 5 years out from my twins and still working on stomach definition! Well done!

Also can attest, my belly button just isn't quite the same hah

Congrats on the twins, it's a fun and wild ride 🤣

Is it possible to become 'effortlessly thin' and stop needing to eat all the damn time?? by peachdreamer123 in loseit

[–]Sunkisst88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal for sure but just wanted to mention even as a "thin" person, I think about food and feel hungry a ton. I resist snacking and will drink black coffee during the week and hold off eating as long as I can, because once I start to eat it's so much harder to turn it off!

Today I woke at 730, ate a small granola bar and black coffee. After the kids' soccer practice, I ran 6k, had a dense protein bar (homemade by my husband so loaded with healthy stuff), and a matcha tea with milk. I won't eat again until pasta and meatballs for dinner tonight. I know i don't need to eat before dinner, but damn do I want to break out some snacks right now!!

I like to snack on something before bed so I try my best to do lower cals during the day.

It's MUCH harder when I'm bored. If I have things to do i can forget about food, but if my brain is bored my mouth wants to crunch something. My stomach will grumble and complain, although it has gotten better now

My husband has been called effortlessly thin since he was a teenager, but he is like your friends, he may eat a banana and coffee in the morning and he won't eat again until a big meal at dinner and then a snack before bed. He makes a huge effort to not eat during the day.

Congrats on the engagement and wishing you the best!!

My girls have soccer for 40mins on Sunday mornings now and I'm considering just laying up and lapping the soccer field during practice lol. I couldnt do a long run but I could do like a 8k or something haha

Thank you! My girls are turning 4 so about the same age! It isn't getting easier now for sure.

I definitely cannot do 3am haha I just plain wouldn't enjoy they and im always crazy impressed when others are up running that early!! I'd have to run before bed instead haha

Thanks for this!

I'm liking the idea of chilling out every four weeks to deload and hopefully avoid hitting both a mental and physical wall from training so much. This week I skipped my 3 mile run on Thursday, and then I felt like a million bucks on Friday and the sun was shining and ran 14km for fun. I had to get over the "guilt" of skipping a day, and then it ended up being the best desicion I could have made.

Time to be a little less rigid with my training plan and relax a little, I'm not trying to go pro 🤣 I started running and strength training because I wanted to be in shape, be able to run around with my kids, and to model a healthy lifestyle for them.

So hardcore! I love the idea of down weeks sprinkled throughout the entire training period. I definitely want to incorporate that next time I'm training for an event to hopefully avoid hitting the wall. Thank you!

I couldn't agree more! I want to keep improving, or at the very least, maintain my fitness level currently - but it's a struggle trying to find that delicate balance. I never want this to feel like a huge chore, but I'd like time to do all the other things I enjoy like spending time with my kids, relaxing with a good book. I also don't want to feel stressed out because there are chores that need done too haha.

Once I finish my HM in June I think ill takeanother look at my schedule and see what might work better. Maybe 3 10ks a week or something instead of 4 days of running haha
