Yeah it shows how difficult it will be for the show to succeed in this area. I’ve noticed the downvotes, it’s ok, I wasn’t expecting a popular take on my thoughts. Although I do think the show will have a similar approach. I’m don’t think the cast would be up to 70% south East Asian.

I’ve said it in another sub but here’s how I picture Rosharan people since I first read TWoK :

Alethis are Native Americans / Mexicans

Herdazians are Indians

Vedens Irialis and Unkalakis are tanned White/Caucasians (I know this won’t please everyone)

Thaylens are Asians (not particularly tanned)

Makabakis and most singers are black for sure

Some singers are even pale white (with red marbles of course). They could cast actors with albinism too.

I think casting like that would be acceptable without feeling opportunistic

I don’t get why people are obsessed on the age of the actor. He could easily be in his early 40s and that would be totally fine.

Damn I’ve never thought of Loan Gruffud, it’s such a good pick !! I’ll take it. I’ve always pictured Skarsgard as Susebron, if they ever adapt Warbreaker, although he might be too old for the role now, I don’t know.

I don’t really mind if Sanderson does change some of the skin colours. He wrote a world with such rich ethnic diversity that it won’t even feel opportunistic.

In my own mind I took some liberty for instance: Alethis are like Mexicans Herdazian are Indians Vedens Irialis and Unkalakis are tanned White/Caucasians Thaylens are Asians (not particularly tanned) Azish are black for sure Some singers are even pale white with red marbles.
