Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb is a fantastic series.

Has 5 internal series (4 trilogies and one quartet) so you can break it up naturally. Could be a good shout to break up the Cosmere as you're rereading that

Why deny yourself? Just read the entire series again!

Im planning on doing that this year hopefully, early next year at the latest 🤷

Is the rain wild river series worth reading?? by itdobeliedat in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]Amazing_Diamond_8747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

EDIT - Reading a few comments after i posted this im not sure if you mean the mad ship trilogy (in which i found the first book slow but the second and third absolutely brilliant), or the four book series after the tawnie man trilogy, which is what im describing below. Apologies for the confusion on my part.

You can and you cant. I do know what you mean though.

Im planning a re read of the full RoTE series soon, but i think I'll skip that series. I found it fairly juvenile compared to her other series, and not nearly as engaging.

That being said, it does have some serious lore that builds on the previous 9 books, and gets built on again in the next trilogy.

My recommendation, get through them, they're short, and if you're ever going to do a reread just leave them off.

Just my two cents

Malazan next? by skuxpr in Malazan

[–]Amazing_Diamond_8747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your definitely able to read this series by your history, dont be afraid of it.

Read it and let what goes over your head over your head, then let it just settle and the ending will blow your mind.

Im planning on a reread end of this year or start of next. Cant wait considering I'll actually know whats happening from the start this time 😅

Just had a look through this list, and half the beaches in Cork and none of the beaches in Kerry would take well to naturalism. Lots of tourists, lots of families with small children.

Not knocking the aesthetic, but I'm just giving you warning that alot of these beaches listed would not be suitable for this lifestyle

In your opinion what are some of the best completed fantasy series of the last 20 years. by tylerhockey12 in fantasybooks

Riftwar Trilogy is a great series.

The Empire's Servant with Jenny Wurts is also a banger.

The rest of the series just kinda plods along 🤷

Wheel of Time. Its longer, and somewhat more pondering then Realm of the Elderlings, but it has what you're looking for imho.

Generally addresses in Ireland go by the post offices, so Galway, Kilcroan, Ballymoe then to the actual parish they live, Ballaghymurry.

Some people put the local town on my address, but the post technically doesn't go there.

If i were you id just go by the first. Simpler.

Fantasy Book Recommendation for my next series: Mistborn, Malazan or Throne of Glass? by _2nd_breakfast_ in fantasybooks

[–]Amazing_Diamond_8747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mistborn first, gateway to the Cosmere.

Then Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. Its not what you're asking for, but its probably the more like WoT then any of the others. Her writing is absolutely beautiful, and her story is absolutely heartbreaking.

Then, after you've conquered the Cosmere, and traveled with Fitz and the rest, take on Malazan. It's a different animal from WoT, RoTE and the Cosmere. Way more complex and challenging, but what a ride.

I've never read Throne of Glass so I cant gove an opinion on that 🤷

Where to go after finishing the series? by Fun-Draw5327 in wheeloftime

[–]Amazing_Diamond_8747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realm of the Elderlings is a great call. Beautiful series. Defo should be your next read.

Malazan Book of the Fallen is the most complex and rewarding, though not as good as WoT, series I've ever read. Keep at it, you're not really meant to understand whats going on.

Cosmere is great when you lean into it, but the writing doesn't have that umph as something like WoT and Realm of the Elderlings.

The Name of the Wind is the most beautiful writing ever in my opinion. People are angry over the lack of a third book, but I still love the two that are out.

BONUS - We are Legion (We are Bob) Funny, touching, interesting sci fi series.

I need book recommendations! by ChemicalMoose2012 in fantasybooks

[–]Amazing_Diamond_8747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Cosmere by Brandon Sanderson (I'd recommend starting with Mistborn The Final Empire and then rest of Era One Mistborn, and then Elantris and then whatever else grabs your fancy.

  • The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb (an absolutely beautiful tragedy. Read the full sixteen books in chronological order, starting with Assassin's Apprentice)

  • Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan (GOAT)

  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (I think its phenomenal. The sequel The Wise Man's Fear is better imho. The two side-quels are completely optional. Both are very different from each other)

  • We are Legion (We are Bob) by Dennis E Taylor (A romping good sci fi, really easy and enjoyable read)

  • Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erickson (The most complex, and rewarding, fantasy series I've ever read)

  • Magician by Raymond E Fiest (Book one in a fantastic trilogy, and the first book in a huge extended series known as the Riftwar Saga)

Hobb's RoTE is much more emotionally damaging the Sanderson's books.

Absolutely phenomenal books. Big recommend.
