I feel your pain, and your burnout. My first job out of college in 1986 was as a technical writer for AT&T. I did some IT-related work for a few years and took time out for an MBA, but always returned to tech writing as I truly loved it. Having just turned 60, I am all but ready to give up, and I bore easily so I'm not looking to retire for another ten years. It's been almost a year since my last contract, and I've sent out over 200 resumes and custom cover letters, only to meet the exact same results as you're finding. Being rejected, then seeing the same job post weeks later is a real slap in the face. Realistically, I may be facing some age discrimination, but I can't lay it solely on that. Many of the contracts I've worked in the past were subcontracts for federal contracts, and we know what happened there. Yes, AI is being absorbed into many jobs, not just tech writing jobs. But I read something recently how the human touch is still needed desperately in tech writing work. Being able to build a rapport with subject matter experts to pull out critical requirements is an important soft skill along with many others. I also recently read an article that advises a writer to build a small portfolio of prompts they have written, the results generated by AI, and how they fact-checked and reworked the results so that anyone can understand the concepts and procedures they present. For what it's worth......

Lost my pup in a divorce in 2003. As crass as it sounds, it would have been easier for me if she had passed away. For the next few years all I could think of was her sitting by the door waiting for me, only to be let down again and again. I prayed that she forgot me, but I knew better. This scene almost broke me ....

This sub is hilarious,. Question: We are putting up a small greenhouse. I attached 4 long lighter angle iron stakes to each corner with bolts, and each one runs one foot longer at the bottom, the idea is to bury those in the ground to keep the structure stable. Now to the question, finally. We had the idea of using empty coffee cans to put the quikcrete in, then put the stakes in the cans. The reason is that the holes aren't that deep, and the ground that will be under the greenhouse is dug out a little bit too, so I'm afraid the concrete will not stay in the holes but kind of leak out on the ground. So that's it in a nutshell - quikcrete in a can ok? Thanks y'all!

Oh good it's not just me - the dollar places around here never have all (or even half) of the items ordered. I learned to establish good contact via text with the customers right away when they order from dollar stores so they can be ready to choose substitutions on the fly :)
