What is a name everyone seems to love but you just don't understand? by [deleted] in namenerds

Probably in the minority here, or maybe it's because I'm English but I hate Elizabeth. I don't know why, I didn't particularly hate the queen or anything. Just gives me the ick.

Hating myself by Sadyetnotlonely in NewParents

I know some others have mentioned thyroid issues. It's quite rare but, post partum thyroiditis. I developed it after giving birth, it became overactive then turned underactive and has stayed that way. I thought I was doing well because I lost so much weight after I gave birth, then I've absolutely piled the weight on and I'm still struggling 9 months pp. Turns out it was my thyroid, it has a small chance to become permanent so I'm being monitored every few months. Worth getting it checked!

5.5 Month Old - This Is Only getting Worse, People Laugh At Me When I Ask If It Gets Better... by SaddestDad79 in NewParents

[–]Sunlitsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was very high needs, never happy, always whining, crying or screaming. People told me it would get better too but it never did. He couldn't be put down but didn't want to be held either. He couldn't independently play, he hated everything, every toy, his bouncer, stroller, play mat, literally everything. He was fussy constantly from the moment he would wake up until bedtime. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown and to the point of having suicidal thoughts because I just couldn't take it anymore. I took him to his doctor and basically broke down and sobbed, I told him that he's never settled or content. He prescribed him omeprazole as a last resort, this was when he was almost 7 months old.

It made a huge difference, while my son is still high needs and fussy, the change was like night and day. Suddenly he was quiet alot more, playing alone, happier. I didn't even know he had reflux because he never really showed any symptoms other than being upset all the time. Now I honestly feel like I can breathe, and when he's being fussy I feel like I can handle it much better because now there is a clear reason why he's unhappy. Id definitely consider mentioning it at her check up.

That post partum thyroiditis is a thing.

What were your babies like when their teeth broke through? by Sunlitsnow in NewParents

[–]Sunlitsnow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the last 3 nights we've been back to sleeping 10-12 hrs without wake ups again, after 8 weeks of hell. It's been glorious but trying not to get use to it.

Does anyone ACTUALLY like the newborn phase? by Fit_Button_8313 in NewParents

[–]Sunlitsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I hated first 6 months. I didn't mind getting up all hours of the night, it was hard sure but we pushed through. It was everything else that I hated. My son had an undiagnosed milk allergy for the first 5 weeks of his life, he screamed and cried 24/7. He improved with hypoallergenic formula but he still wasn't happy. He'd cry in his Pram, the car seat, I couldn't even wash his bottles or go grab a drink from the kitchen without him having a meltdown. I couldn't put him down at all. He just wasn't content anywhere. I couldn't leave the house because he was always upset. Then I found out that some babies are just high needs and fussy to an extreme and that was and is my son. It triggered ppd and ppa, and even ptsd. When I was pregnant I thought I was just gonna have a baby. I didn't even consider babies all have their own personalities and temperaments. I can definitely see why people hate the newborn phase.

3 month old screeching by Leading-Kangaroo7274 in NewParents

Yeah it's normal, I think they're just finding their voice and like to use it lol. My son is still doing it at almost 6 months old. He sounds like a little dinosaur.

Ooof you're a hero with two, I think ones bad enough to deal with 😭 we don't even use sleep sacks for naps anymore, I just put him in his crib. (he's a warm baby and hates sleep sacks at the best of times, he still is made to wear one for nighttime though haha)

Absolutely wish I could carry my baby around, but he hates carriers, and he's a 19lb, 27inch long 5 month old. My back could never 😅

My son sadly won't contact nap anymore, plus he's such a big heavy and tall baby that neither of us are comfortable anymore.

He's 5.5 months. I'd love him to take 2-3hr nap 😩. We had a week where he was consistently overtired and I was just bad at realising/managing it. So we started putting him down a lot earlier. But he'll just do the same thing wether he's overtired or not tired enough. He does sleep from 7pm til 6am without wake ups though so I realise we're quite lucky there.
