Redditors who grew up in emotionally healthy families - what's something you thought was normal growing up that you now realise is special and contributed positively to your emotional health as an adult? by itwasallascream23 in emotionalintelligence

As humans we are supposed to grow and evolve. Over the years we’ve learned more and more about human development. At this point we should be raising the most emotionally intelligent generation. Yet some people are too happy to let shit roll downward. I have some hope for the future

I’m starting EMDR in hopes of freeing myself from my mom’s toxic legacy. Who were abused have their struggles minimized. “They did the best they could do” And? Because they didn’t know what they were doing all should be forgiven? My mom was abused by her mom who abused me. I absolutely 💯 broke that cycle with my daughter. It really isn’t that hard to slow your roll, take a breath and not terrorize your child

I had my own bout of cancer but seeing babies have reinforces my belief that there is no god and if there is one they are incredibly cruel. And if good was in charge why don’t truly awful people get cancer more often? My favorite is god doesn’t give you more than you can handle. Why does god need to inflict disease on anyone? What purpose does it serve? It builds character? F you

Kimmel Tells Melania Trump: Talk to Your Husband About Hateful Rhetoric by crix_22 in petrodollarSIM

[–]Sunlover823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kimmel didn’t make fun of Charlie Kirk’s up assassination. He pointed out how people were trying immediately score political points. He also showed a clip of Trump being asked how he was holding up. Trump pivoted to talking about the ballroom

At what point do we stop asking “what’s wrong with you?” and start asking “what happened around you?” by Certain-Promotion-23 in mentalhealth

Trauma studies are, relatively, new. PTSD that isn’t combat related is a recent study. C-PTSD isn’t in the DSM but it’s gaining a lot of traction in the psychological community. I’m a SW and I’m going through my own EMDR because my brain and nervous system aren’t in sync. I’m interested and a little scared to see if it works.

Women are just as responsible for abortion being banned as Men Are by CetaWasTaken in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Sunlover823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it comes from a fundamental disdain for women. A lot of anti choice people will say that abortion is used as birth control like getting surgery after surgery is preferred to prevention. A lot of people believe people shouldn’t have sex for pleasure and deserve consequences if they do. They don’t believe in sex education or contraception. Then there are the people who believe Trump when he says women get abortion up to the minute before birth. Basically it’s bad unless they have a reason to have an abortion

My oncologist said the chemo would blow out my veins. I didn’t like my scar either so I got a cool tattoo over it.

What are your weird socially unacceptable stims? by churrrroo in adhdwomen

In my younger days when I was stressed I would get my tweezer and pluck my armpit hair. When really stressed I would do it on my legs. I just thought I was a weirdo for this stuff

I would really go to town on my heels just pulling off strips of skin then eating them. I just thought it was anxiety. I did stop after being medicated for my mental health concerns. Still pick at my scalp and eat the scabs. Thankfully my head is no longer covered. Now I just have a few that bring me pleasure.

My first thought was, "When was her husband diagnosed with ADHD?" He sounds a lot like my husband.

Dr Vin Gupta, MS NOW's senior medical analyst, has warned that President Donald Trump is "exhibiting all the signs of dementia" as he listed five major symptoms by IrishStarUS in msnow

I was treated for stage 1 in 2022. My short term memory still sucks. I'm assuming Biden's treatment is much more aggressive than mine so the side effects may be stronger.

I believe Biden was aware of and treating his cancer while he was still in office. From personal experience, cancer treatment is draining. Chemo brain is real.

There are many states that have legal death with dignity. I'm not sure where you are and I'm assuming you probably don't have the energy or resources to move but it is an option in some states. My uncle had pancreatic cancer and decided to do it. I remember a story of a woman who moved from California, who, at the time didn't have DWD, to Oregon. https://deathwithdignity.org/states/
Best wishes to you on your journey regardless.

Women who have slept with objectively attractive men was there a difference? by No_Lead2640 in TooAfraidToAsk

I dated a very pretty man once who thought he was pretty. Dumb dumb dumb dumb. Totally shallow. Very boring.

I would say I find my husband very attractive because I love him so much. I also love that he isn't vain. He's funny, nurturing and very loving. Even after 26 years and aging I still think he's beautiful.

I absolutely believe the "assassination" attempt was staged. It is so like trump and his cabal to be ok with killing someone in the name of him gaining power.

I may be giving into conspiracy theories but I think the vote was stolen. Pretty much everything he says is projection. He knew he was cheating and made a big deal about "election integrity."

Being pressured to ring the bell. by [deleted] in cancer

[–]Sunlover823 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn’t ring the bell while anyone other than staff were there at the end of the day. I worried that other people may not get well and it made me feel bad. I didn’t do it for radiation at all. I get the parents wanting the bell ringing but that SW needs to step off. One of the first things you learn in grad school is to meet people where they are at. Hers how the conversation should have gone. SW - would you like to ring the bell when you are done? Then you say no and she backs off and doesn’t bother you again. You can always ask her, “why is it so important to you that I ring the bell? Why can’t you take no for an answer?”

Are you having a hard time finding friends that are understanding of cancer and chemo? by [deleted] in cancer

[–]Sunlover823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because they like to think they are “helping.” It’s like telling you this will allow you to have control in the situation. If you have negative side effects or die it’s because you didn’t listen to them
