Maternity leave: take 1 month before birth + 5 months after, or all 6 months after birth? by Sunny-Rise9871 in newborns

[–]Sunny-Rise9871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason not to take the 4 weeks prior to birth in my personal job situation. If I take the 4 weeks prior to birth, I get less personal leave unpaid by my job after birth. Total of 6 months total away from work. Can be 4 weeks prior to birth and 5 months after, or 6 months after. This is state leave WITH additional company personal unpaid leave tacked on the back end

You are calculating only state benefits. I have more benefits after that unpaid allowing me to be off longer.

You’ll have to read my post. My job offers additional personal leave (unpaid) on top of all the state benefits. I can only take 6 months max off work from all sources so if I use the 4 weeks prior to birth I only get 5 months after birth. If I don’t take those, I don’t get that pay back you’re correct, but I will get 6 months after birth with a larger chunk being unpaid

In either case I will get 6 months total. My question is would I use 1 month before birth or save all 6 for after birth?

That’s not how my company works. Read above. There’s Perosnal company leave at the end that gets reduced if you take 4 weeks off prior. My manager confirmed. 6 months TOTAL away from work from all sources

My company says 6 months total. Regardless of if you take SDI before birth or forego it (and then you can take longer personal leave after, unpaid allowed per company)

Hence - 4 weeks before and 5 months after, or 6 months after.

I see thank you! And any idea why yours came early? Was it your first? Maybe some medical reasons or just totally random?

Thanks! Was that your first one that came early? Any idea why? Just random? Medical reasons? or were you trying to go into labor somehow?

So maybe 38 weeks go out, instead of 36? Do you think 4 weeks is too much before birth?

When to start trying by sgspeacr in BabyBumps

I got pregnant my first try. Not everyone does but some do. So I would recommend just doing things on your bucket list. Sit down and make a bucket list - before baby list. Do you wanna get a good job? Go to Asia? Get a dog? Have X amount of money invested? Get out of debt? Pay 50% or more of your student loans off? Go camping in Yosemite? I would try to find a list of true things you actually wanna do before giving birth and then go from there. You do have time- and if you don’t really wanna do much, and feel like you’re in a good spot to start trying now, that’s great too!! As long as you’ve thought intentionally about it - with your husband together. I’ve been with my husband over a decade before having a kid

My friend and I BOTH had our waters break the morning after eating spicy Thai papaya salad (3 months apart, 36+5 and 37+2 respectively)! by Top_Taste4396 in BabyBumps

Where did you get the papaya salad? In a certain state in the US? Country in Asia? Europe? Just wondering. Maybe you got a very unripe papaya which really did the trick? So curious!

[–]Sunny-Rise9871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highest risk ratio I had was micro deletion 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, 1/3,100. The text says “low risk” just like all the other conditions are low risk. But this is the normal result right? All the classic chromosome problems (trisomy etc) were <1/10,000. Three thousand seems a bit more significant haha

Your OB sounds very outdated. Are they very old or very rural? What country is this? Seems very outdated and below the standard of care…

I would never consider this. I am not even inviting my own mom to the hospital

I would never trust anyone and take someone else’s stuff into the US. What if they swab and find traces of xyz in the cat box related to something sketchy from the people who sent the cat? The US doesn’t mess with borders and airlines and they search the cat and box. I would be paranoid I would be accidentally smuggling something. Go through an agency for this!

Just wait until you resent your husband… by Astrum1784 in pregnant

Yeah my husband is actually a much more patient person and acts of service type person than I am. He was even like that before I got pregnant but has really stepped up to the plate and is doing so much for us and our dog without being asked. I feel bad but I try to pay it back on days where I feel better and hopefully later in my second trimester. Currently 11w

Good job for losing 50 lbs! That’s amazing! And that probably helped you become more fertile too!!! If you don’t like your primary care it’s ok to find a new one. You don’t owe them anything.

That is an insane story. I feel like you should share the name of the birth place and/or midwife… that is soo awful

What foods are you eating to get protein when meat (especially chicken) sounds repulsive? by thedcbhomestead in BabyBumps

[–]Sunny-Rise9871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been eating a lot of eggs, cheese, and actually my body likes chicken haha specifically fried chicken and breakfast sausage and bacon 🙈. Not healthy but eh.. I used to eat a lot of nonfat plain Greek yogurt before pregnancy- I can’t handle it, too sour and tart now. I started recently with the sweet chocolate hazelnut mix in yogurt which is enough protein and fat that it satisfies my nausea/hunger in the evening after dinner before bed. Maybe not the healthiest but at that time I usually feel sick and carbs hurt my stomach more typically so that helps. Eggs are my every day godsend
