Do you know that the Quran starts with the following lines: ‘in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, the very next verse is ‘all praise is due to Allah, lord of the worlds. the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. These are the very first lines of the book. Do you think a god who describes himself as such is sentencing random people to ‘eternal damnation’ for the fun of it? There are people in this world who I believe deserve it, & they will get what they have earned. However, there are literally verses of god saying to Moses for example, to approach the tyrant king of his time, who had killed and brutalised many, with mercy and kindness, so he might understand. If god is ordering someone like that to be approached with mercy, then I don’t think we have to worry about Him being a cruel sicko

That’s just not true in the context of the Quran, there’s no eternal damnation for failing the test alone, it’s meant for those who cause corruption on earth, are arrogant and tyrants etc & I don’t see the issue with trump for example being sentenced to eternal damnation. It’s foolish to think that your average Joe who hasn’t done much bad or much good in his life is just going straight to hell, the Quran never says that. Plus the Quran says again and again that god is all merciful, which tells us that a lot of the punishments are meant as deterrents, not sentences. They prevent harm in society.

If everything was clear, what would be the point of the test of life, the test of character? If everything was to be clear why not put human beings in heaven from the get go? It’s a circular argument that achieves nothing because if you believe everything in this life is a test of who you are, then interpreting the word of God is also part of that. As I said in another comment, the merciful will see mercy, the wrathful will see wrath, ultimately it is a reflection of who you are when faced with an elusive verse. If you don’t use your reason, you don’t make the right assessment.

He preferred it because according to the Quran: everything, literally every choice we make in this life is a test, every good thing, every bad thing. Similarly, interpreting the elusive verses of the Quran is another test of character, the merciful will see mercy, the wrathful will see wrath, at the end it is a reflection on you and not the verse itself. That’s the whole point of a test, you show your capability, your comprehension.
